Possess a coaching | | | endorsement or coaching | | | authorization certification | | | | | | 2. Have experience as a player | | | or coach of the sport | | | | | | 3. Have ability to be a role | | | model for student athletes | | | | | | REPORTS TO: | | | | | | Head Coach, Activities director | | | and Principal | | | | | | JOB GOAL: | | | | | | To assist the Head coach in | | | providing leadership, | | | supervision, and organization of | | | a specific athletic activity, and | | | to carry out the objectives of | | | the total athletic program | | | including helping each | | | participant achieve a high level | | | of skill, an appreciation for the | | | values of discipline, and an | | | increased level of self-esteem. | | | | | | PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES: | | | | | | 1. Be knowledgeable of rules, | | | regulations and coaching | | | techniques of the sport | | | coached and of local rules | | | and regulations regarding | | | eligibility, good conduct, | | | board policies, etc. | | | regarding student athletes. | | | 2. Provide for the proper care | | | and set up of facilities | | | prior to contests and | | | practice. | | | 3. Provide for the proper care | | | of equipment, and uniforms | | | and the storage of equipment | | | and uniforms including | | | notifying the athletic | | | director of the need for | | | repair and/or replacement. | | | 4. Travel to and from away | | | athletic events with the team | | | and be the last out of the | | | visitor's locker room to | | | ensure that no equipment is | | | left behind and that no | | | damage has occurred. | | | 5. Motivate athletes with praise | | | and affirmation; avoid | | | sarcasm, embarrassment and | | | belittling; exercise | | | self-control during practices | | | and games and reflect | | | positively upon the team, | | | school, and yourself. | | | 6. Assist the head coach with | | | regard to physicals and other | | | safety and health issues, | | | emergency procedures, etc. | | | 7. Assist the head coach | | | regarding communication with | | | students, parents, media, | | | etc., | | | 8. Assist the head coach with | | | the scheduling of practices | | | and the maintenance of | | | records for various purposes. | | | 9. Be responsible for | | | non-varsity teams as assigned | | | by the head coach. | | | 10. Be supportive of the head | | | coach and the head coach's | | | philosophy when communicating | | | with student athletes, | | | parents, and the community. | | | 11.
