Summary: The Assistant Drama Director supports the Drama Director in managing the high school’s theater productions.This extracurricular sponsorship meets after school from September-May with occasional weekend events. Hours vary based upon the needs of the postition and work schedule of the sponsor.Responsibilities/Essential Functions:

  • Conducts an equitable selection of the drama production cast that aligns with the goals of Ames High School and Ames Community School District.

  • Assists with auditions, rehearsals, and performances.

  • Supervises students during practices and productions.

  • Provides guidance to students in acting, stagecraft, and technical aspects of theater.

  • Assists with set design, costumes, and props.

  • Creates a sense of belonging and a welcoming environment for all students.

  • Assists students, promoting teamwork, and fostering a creative environment.

  • Have knowledge in and follow the guidelines, rules, regulations, policies, and procedures of Ames Community School District.

  • Ensure that the student members understand the expectations of the organization, represent excellence within the school, and serve as role models for the student body.

  • Ensure that a channel of continuous communication exists between the student body and the faculty and administration.

  • Performs other related duties as assigned for the pupose of ensuring the efficient functioning of the club.

Qualifications:

  • Experience working with high school students preferred.
