Job Description:Summary of Duties and Responsibilities:

The Department of Agricultural Education and Studies at Iowa State University located in Ames, Iowa seeks applicants for a 9-month, tenure-track position, at the rank of assistant professor. The focus of the position will be in agriculture teacher education and preparation. The position is 60% teaching and advising, 35% research, and 5% institutional and professional service.

Responsibilities will include teaching undergraduate and graduate courses related to agriculture education, both resident and online, and coordinating, facilitating and supervising field experiences. The candidate will be expected to develop a productive research program of national scope that addresses current issues related to agriculture and life sciences education and aligns with departmental strengths and mission. Research effort will include securing external funding, publishing in peer-reviewed journals, presenting research at national conferences and advising graduate students. Service on departmental, college, and/or university committees, engagement with professional organizations, and potentially advising a student organization is expected.

Required Qualifications

  • PhD, awarded by the start date, in Agricultural Education or closely related field.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Completion of a teacher preparation program.

  • Three years of teaching experience in agriculture or closely related field at the school-based or college level.

  • Evidence of effective and innovative resident and online teaching.

  • Documented experience conducting and disseminating research/scholarship.
