Summary

The Accounts Receivable Office is seeking applicants for a Business Systems Analyst II. The Accounts Receivable Office is a Finance Service team in the Division of Operations and Finance, Financial Planning and Analysis unit. The Business Systems Analyst II is responsible for analyzing and executing work with a cross-functional lens to ensure configuration has considered all possible down-stream and cross-stream impacts for student and finance. It will perform the collection, analysis, testing and documentation of data to support Accounts Receivable business operations and configuration. The position will perform the configuration of Workday, to support the success of all stakeholder units, performing support ticket resolution or escalation as needed, and helps execute continuous implementation and improvement efforts.

The successful candidate will possess excellent communication, project management and interpersonal skills; have the ability to analyze and document business processes and methodically work through technological issues in high-pressure situations. The candidate will have a strong financial background, ability to problem-solve and display excellent judgement in prioritization of competing project demands. This position will be expected to monitor upcoming software updates to identify the potential need for configuration changes or new features to present to office leadership.

Additional information: Hybrid work environment with remote and on campus duties. Core hours are M-F 8-5 with the option of 7:30-4 with appropriate coverage.

Example of Duties

  • Performs research and business analysis

  • Evaluates and maintains system access requests

  • Support technical configuration of work flows for billing, payment, refunding, account resolution, annual fiscal reporting and customer service support needs

  • Review of finance data model, account posting rules, and financial ledger impacts from configurations executing in conjunction with financial aid configuration, disbursing, reporting and reconciliation

  • Assist with the collection, analysis, testing and documentation of business processes to support Accounts Receivable, Treasury, Finance, and Student support areas

  • Reviews and interprets system release notes for impacts to university policy and recommends adjustments to configuration to meet compliance specifications

  • Research best practices and assist with developing actionable insights and recommendations for business operations

  • Participates in design and system development and tests changes for usability, performance, and adherence to standards

  • Prepares complex statistical summaries and special reports

  • Advises management and employees on business systems

  • Collaborates with developers to provide in-depth financial reporting and account reconciliation to U.S. Department of Education, Iowa Board of Regents, Senior Administration of Iowa State University and the Government of Student Body

  • Works on a variety of complex projects
