Job Title: Carpentry Technician

Job Description

Looking for skilled carpenters for various commercial projects within a 60-mile radius of Ames, IA. We are a general contractor that specializes in $1mil-$15mil jobs, including work at ISU with remodels and new buildings. In this role, you will perform carpentry tasks with wood and metal framing tactics.

Responsibilities:

• Construct, install, and repair wooden structures and fixtures • Measure, cut, and shape wood, plastic, and other materials • Inspect and replace damaged framework or other structures/fixtures • Follow safety procedures and maintain a clean work environment • Framing and rough carpentry + trim and finish carpentry tasks

Job Type: • This is a Contract-to-Hire position with a duration of 6 Month(s).

Work Site: • This is a fully on-site position in Ames, Iowa.

Hard Skills

• 2+ years of professional carpentry experience

• Proficiency in reading blueprints and technical drawings

• Expertise in various carpentry techniques and tools

• Strong problem-solving and math skills

• Ability to work independently and as part of a team

Soft Skills

• Openness to doing different tasks on a job site

• Ability to work in a team

Work Site

This is a fully on-site position in Ames, Iowa.

Work Environment

Operate in a commercial construction environment. You'll be working in teams of 3-10 people on the job site at a time. Our normal hours are 7am-4pm M-F, although this may vary throughout the season and day. The dress code is boots, jeans, and a t-shirt or sweatshirt. For certain projects, you may have to travel to locations such as Ames, Des Moines, or Huxley, IA. If you live close to the Ames shop, you will be able to ride in a company van with other team members.
