Trace Genomics Lab Technician (Temp) in Ames, Iowa
Position Overview:
We are seeking multiple self-motivated and organized individuals to join our Soil Analysis Production team as Temporary Laboratory Technicians. In these roles, the team is responsible for high-throughput soil processing, which includes soil homogenization, slurry preparation, and sub-sampling for various measurements. You will play a critical role in helping us meet tight deadlines, making attention to detail and strong organizational skills essential. Additionally, you will assist in maintaining inventory of samples and materials, ensuring a smooth workflow.

This is a temporary, seasonal position from September to December 2024, offering 35 to 40 hours of work per week, with potential for overtime during peak periods. We kindly ask that only candidates who currently reside within a commutable distance of Ames, IA apply for this opportunity.
Key Responsibilities:
Perform high-throughput processing of soil samples, including homogenization, slurry preparation, and sub-sampling.
Maintain a clean and organized workspace, including cleaning tools and equipment after use.
Assist in managing the inventory of samples and materials to support laboratory operations.
Ensure compliance with all Trace Genomics safety protocols and company practices.
Accurately record and document experimental procedures and results.
Contribute to a collaborative and innovative work environment by sharing ideas and solutions.
Perform additional duties as assigned to support the team.
Qualifications:
Basic understanding of scientific principles, including cross-contamination and precision.
Strong organizational skills with the ability to multitask and maintain a clean workspace.
Demonstrated responsibility, punctuality, and reliability in previous roles.
Ability to work standing for long hours in a noisy, and sometimes dusty, environment.
Previous experience in a lab setting is a plus.
Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs.
Must be 18 years old to apply.
Preferred Qualifications:
Bachelors degree in life sciences, chemistry, or a related field.
Proficiency in pipetting and experience with general laboratory equipment.
Experience with lab automation and Laboratory Information Management Systems (LIMS).
