Job Description:Summary of Duties and Responsibilities:
The Department of Civil, Construction and Environmental Engineering (CCEE) at Iowa State University (www.ccee.iastate.edu) invites applications for a part-time Lecturer to teach the senior capstone course in environmental engineering. The course focuses on the physical, chemical and biological processes for the treatment of water and wastewater including coagulation and flocculation, sedimentation, filtration, adsorption, chemical oxidation/disinfection, fixed film and suspended growth biological processes and sludge management. This course must be taught in-person.
A person holding this faculty position will be responsible for coordinating and teaching EnvE 4280, Water and Wastewater Treatment Plant Design. This part-time term faculty position is a 1/4 full time equivalent, 9-month position for an initial one semester term with potential for renewal. Term faculty members are not eligible for tenure, but have potential to be reviewed for advancement into senior ranks.
Candidates are expected to have an excellent record of achievement in teaching or engineering practice in civil, construction, or environmental engineering or a closely related discipline. They are expected to exhibit excellent communication skills and share in our commitment to achieving excellence.
Required Minimum Qualifications:
Master’s degree in Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, or a closely related field
3 years of experience in professional engineering
Preferred Qualifications:
Previous teaching experience;
Professional engineering licensure in the United States;
Senior level design and/or management experience
Department/Program & College Description:
The CCEE Department offers B.S. degree programs in civil engineering, civil engineering with environmental emphasis, construction engineering, and environmental engineering, plus M.S., MEng, and Ph.D. graduate degree programs in civil engineering and maintains externally funded research of more than $15 million annually. CCEE is committed to faculty, staff and students who can enrich University objectives in the areas of research, teaching and service.
