Job Description:

The Child Welfare Research and Training Project within the Human Development and Family Studies department in the College of Human Sciences at Iowa State University is seeking applications for Outreach Specialist. The Outreach Specialist will provide management for the Parenting: It's a Life (PIAL) program, including design, implementation, and evaluation.

The Outreach Specialist will provide direct supervision to student employees, including training, scheduling, and ongoing coaching. The Outreach Specialist will build relationships with key stakeholders.

Example of Duties

  • Provide supervision to direct reports (student workers) to include delegation of duties, direct supervision, and performance management.

  • Collaborate on design tasks for PIAL curriculum, utilizing adult learning best practices.

  • Complete internal and external reporting.

Level Guidelines

  • Intermediate-level position with solid professional and/or technical skills working under general supervision to achieve goals

  • Applies broad, working knowledge of the principles of the field to moderately complex, difficult, and varied problems and issues

  • Exercises judgment within defined procedures and practices to determine appropriate action and resolve problems

  • Responds to a broad range of inquiries and requests

  • May provide training and/or direction to lower-level staff

  • May lead projects of moderate scope and complexity

  • Provides guidance to students

This position may require periods of extensive travel within Iowa as well as work outside the typical 8 AM - 5 PM work day to accommodate outreach activities.
