Job Description:Summary of Duties and Responsibilities:

We are seeking a postdoctoral researcher to lead the analysis of a long-term mark-recapture dataset for monarch butterflies. This work will be conducted in collaboration with partners from USGS, Iowa State University, University of Kansas, Iowa Department of Natural Resources, and other state and federal agencies. Immediate research objectives include estimating basic demographic parameters, including survival and movement, and comparing estimates for captive-released and wild caught butterflies. The postdoc will be free to develop other research questions and analyses based on their interests. The postdoc will be expected to publish in peer-reviewed journals and prepare presentations and reports to cooperators. The position will be supervised by Dr. Anna Tucker and based at the USGS Iowa Cooperative Fish and Wildlife Research Unit at Iowa State University. The postdoc will be expected to participate in our lab community and will have the opportunity to engage in mentoring, proposal development, research collaborations, and teaching if desired.

Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the U.S. on an on-going basis without sponsorship.

Required Minimum Qualifications:

Ph.D. in Wildlife Sciences, Ecology, Applied Statistics, or a related field.

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience with R programming and hierarchical modeling.

Experience with mark-recapture analyses, working with large datasets. Demonstrated Experience with publishing in the peer-reviewed literature.

Experience with Bayesian modeling.
