Position Summary
Provides collaborative practice and care within scope of practice of an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse as defined by the Iowa Board of Nursing in collaboration with a physician. Provides direct patient care; protects, promotes, and optimizes health and abilities, prevents illness and injury, alleviates suffering through the diagnosis and treatment, advocates for patients and their families, ensures all actions taken in carrying out responsibilities support patient centered care.
Position Responsibilities
Unit Specific Position Responsibilities
Provides psychiatric and mental health and services to patients of Mary Greeley Medical Center including caring for children and adolescents (within scope of practice) and adults in collaboration with a physician.
Completes assessment for admission, history and physical assessment, ongoing medication management, therapeutic support, care management and discharge planning recommendations for adult and geriatric patients on the Behavioral Health Unit.
Provides consultation on medical units and the emergency department as requested by Medical Center Providers.
Participates in weeknight and weekend call rotation with other providers for inpatients.
Provides admission and maintenance review of adult clients in the Crisis Stabilization Transitional Living Program.
Qualifications, Knowledge & Experience
Required Qualifications (Including any licensure, certification, education):
Basic Life Support ( BLS) training, or within 90 days of hire and must maintain throughout employment.
Mandatory Reporter training or within 90 days of hire and must maintain throughout employment.
A Registered Nurse with current unrestricted Iowa License.
Minimum of a master’s degree in nursing.
Certified by the Iowa Board of Nursing as an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse
Certification and/or experience as a psychiatric nurse
Organizational Requirements:
Maintain stroke education per regulatory requirements
