Preferred Qualifications:Experience advising or supervising student organizations or teams, including planning, implementing, and evaluating events.

Experience with mass scheduling software such as Workday or comparable.

Certified in food safety and extensive food training, compliant with Iowa Code.

Experience overseeing marketing and promotional activities.

Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Programs, specifically Excel and Outlook.

Experience with scheduling systems like Workday and training platforms.

Experience coaching on policy and procedure adherence.

Job Description:

Are you passionate about shaping student experiences and eager to contribute to a dynamic team? Join Iowa State University Dining as a Student Services Specialist II within our Dining Student Staffing Office (DSSO). In this role, you'll be at the heart of our operations, managing personnel functions for over 1,400 student employees. Your day-to-day will involve everything from recruiting student workers and scheduling using cutting-edge systems like Schedule Source Teamwork, overseeing attendance and student employee needs, to conducting coaching sessions and create trainings for the Workday Learn platform.

You'll collaborate closely with various ISU departments, including University Human Resources, International Students and Scholars Office, ISU Dining Quality Assurance, IT, and many other departments across ISU, ensuring smooth operations and effective communication. This position offers a blend of administrative tasks, such as handling hiring, scheduling and onboarding new hires, with the excitement of working directly with students. You'll oversee training programs, manage schedules, and adapt to the fast-paced environment, making every day a new challenge.

Provides direct services and/or programming to students.

Example of Duties

  • Provides guidance, counseling, and resources to students for a variety of services.

  • Delivers services and/or programming for students such as scholarship coordination, disability services, academic success programs, and resources, etc.

  • Advises students on policies and procedures.

  • Refers students to appropriate resources.

Level Guidelines

  • Intermediate-level position with solid professional and/or technical skills working under general supervision to achieve goals

  • Applies broad, working knowledge of the principles of the field to moderately complex, difficult, and varied problems and issues

  • Exercises judgment within defined procedures and practices to determine appropriate action and resolve problems

  • Responds to a broad range of inquiries and requests

  • May provide training and/or direction to lower-level staff

  • May lead projects of moderate scope and complexity

  • Provides guidance to students
