Job Title: Senior Sanitation Lead
FLSA: Non-Exempt
General Function:
The Senior Sanitation Lead: Assisting Sanitation Supervisor in leading the sanitation team. Ensures the cleanliness of the facility and is responsible for trash removal from various areas of the interior production area of the plant. Perform all jobs safely, efficiently, and accurately to maintain and improve the performance of the entire plant in the areas of Safety, Quality, Reliability (SQR) and our Customer 1st strategy. Provide leadership that embodies our Hy-Vee fundamentals and Motto.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
Assist Sanitation Supervisor in planning for the shifts.
Performs duties in compliance with safety rules, standard operating procedures and good manufacturing practices.
Assists ensure Totewash is set up and functional for daily production.
Performs comprehensive sanitation audits on each unique production process to determine sanitation effectiveness.
Communicates reports/trends/issues regarding inspections, sanitation deviations, and steps taken to resolve deficiencies via e-email.
Assist in conducting training programs for all sanitation procedures and is responsible for the development and training of sanitation personnel.
Understands chemical specifications and their effectiveness/proper application for different processing/packaging equipment SSOP’s.
Assist in scheduling sanitation validation audits including dismantling and inspection critical processing and packaging equipment to ensure proper clean ability/sanitization.
Assist with managing labor schedules to ensure appropriate coverage to meet labor efficiencies and production demands.
Assists in maintaining revising departmental procedures including the master sanitation schedule and SSOP’s reflecting process improvements that maintain or improve pre-operational and operational hygienic conditions.
Reviews and maintains sanitation documentation for Quality Assurance and regulatory review.
Organizes totes and room from one department to another to minimize downtime and maximize production time.
Creates a work environment that reflects a commitment to protecting the health and safety of employees, food safety and quality of products.
Ensure employees are following all food safety and personal safety rules during shift.
Report equipment breakdowns/malfunctions to Sanitation Supervisor/Maintenance Manager in timely manner.
Mentor and train current and new personnel.
Other tasks assigned.
Must understand all manufacturing terms including: KPI, 5S, GMP, CI.
Ensure compliance to plant policies and Federal and State regulations including Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and SQF standards.
Secondary Duties and Responsibilities:
Works closely with Production Supervisor.
Ensure minute by minute downtime information is collected, ensure attendance is taken and discuss with manager scheduling issues.
Ensure OSHA standards are followed.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Worker Characteristics:
Must have the ability to do arithmetic calculations involving fractions, decimals and percentages and have basic computer skills.
Understand the need for and maintain confidentiality.
Ability to adapt to changes throughout daily operation.
Lean manufacturing experience is a plus
Calculate Line efficiency.

Education and Experience:
High School Diploma or equivalent
Experience in managing others, preferably in a high speed production environment
Physical Requirements:
Must be able to physically perform light work exerting up to 50-pounds of force occasionally.
Visual requirements include vision from less than 20-inches to more than 20-feet with or without correction, depth perception, color vision, and field of vision.
Must be able to perform the following physical activities: Climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, reaching, standing, walking, pulling, pushing, lifting, grasping, feeling, talking, hearing and repetitive motions.
Working Conditions:
The duties of this position are performed mostly on the plant floor with some office duties.
Frequent deadlines exist while handling multiple tasks.
Daily contact occurs with employees and office personnel.
Work environment will be mostly in refrigerated areas working with perishable products.
Equipment Used to Perform Job:
Machinery operations, water hoses, chemicals, occasional use of tools. 2-way radio, computer, tablet copier, and phone.
