ATLANTIC COMMUNITY SCHOOL DISTRICT Head Girls Wrestling Coach in Atlantic, Iowa

JOB SUMMARY:

The Head Girls Wrestling Coach carries out the philosophy of the Atlantic Community School District and is responsible for the daily operation of the program from planning and executing well-developed practices to managing equipment and personnel.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS, DUTIES, AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Coaches students to support their growth as wrestlers.
  • Directs and leads the assistant coaches with the goal of growing and supporting them professionally.
  • Develops and maintains positive, professional working relationships with students, staff, families, volunteers, and community members.
  • Implements program policies and procedures, which align with the districts standard operating procedures for coaches.
  • Relates well to student-athletes and demonstrates care for them beyond the sport experience.
  • Prioritizes sportsmanship, work ethic, organization, and communication with players, staff, and the community.
  • Displays positive qualities such as enthusiasm, a strong work ethic, and loyalty.
  • Always represents the program with the appropriate behavior and integrity while developing and maintaining productive relationships with other employees, parents, students, and opposing squads.
  • Maintains appropriate levels of confidentiality in all matters pertaining to students, parents, staff, and the program.
  • Demonstrates support of the comprehensive athletic program.
  • Assumes responsibility for care of equipment and facilities being used.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

  • Successful experience coaching.
  • Effective communication, public relation, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to write reports and correspondence consistent with the duties of this position.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and concisely both in oral and written form using a variety of communication techniques and tools to ensure the appropriate flow of information, collaborative efforts, and feedback.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret information.
  • Ability and willingness to display courtesy, tact, and respect when dealing with others.
  • Ability to interpret a variety of information furnished in written, oral diagram, or schedule form.
  • Ability to identify and define problems and collect, and analyze data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
  • Ability and willingness to maintains appropriate confidentiality.
  • Ability and willingness to promote a harassment-free environment.
  • Ability to learn and upgrade job skills to meet changing demands of the position.
  • Ability to react well under pressure, handle, and balance multiple demands at one time, work with frequent interruptions, and perform duties and tasks at expected levels of professionalism.
  • Extensive knowledge of and ability to perform duties in full compliance with the district, School Board, state and federal laws, methods, requirements, policies, procedures, and activities pertinent to the duties of this position.
  • Ability to use independent judgment and demonstrates initiative to act without being asked.
  • Willingness to continue to be a student of the sport of wrestling to improve coaching and relationship building abilities.
  • Ability to perform the essential functions of the job with or without reasonable accommodations.
