Day to day as an Accountant

As an Accountant at the Girl Scouts of Eastern IA and Western IL, you will play a vital role in upholding the financial integrity of the Council. Your primary responsibility will be to provide essential accounting functions that support our mission and align with Council goals, policies, and standards. You will ensure rigorous fiduciary controls, enabling the organization to operate with excellence and integrity. This position will allow you to leverage your skills in managing accounts payable, reconciling financial statements, and maintaining an accurate balance sheet while utilizing Microsoft Office for precise reporting.

What matters most

To excel as an Accountant with the Girl Scouts of Eastern IA and Western IL, a degree or certification in accounting or bookkeeping, along with a minimum of three years\' experience in the field, is essential. Familiarity with integrated accounting software and third-party payroll systems is crucial for managing accounts payable and reconciling financial statements efficiently. Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Word and Excel, will be necessary for generating accurate reports and maintaining the balance sheet. Additionally, the ability to sit upright and view a computer screen for extended periods is required.
