THIS POSITION IS THROUGH IOWA READING CORPS1.0 FTE Positions/average 35 hours per week (Openings at 2 of the Elementary Schools-Herbert Hoover and Mark Twain Elementary) Salary/Benefits:Please see the attached document. Qualifications:
Strong interest in education, specifically helping students practice reading skills
Experience working with children, preferably in a tutoring capacity and/or in a school-based setting
Speak, read, write and understand English fluently
Computer skills, including the ability to navigate and use online database systems and e-mail daily
Dedication to community service
Energetic, results-oriented, student-focused style, coupled with strong planning and time management skills
Organized, responsible, flexible, motivated, professional
Ability to build and maintain quality-working relationships with students, coaches, school administrators and
Reading Corps program staff; including accepting and incorporating feedback from coaches and staff
Excellent oral and written communication skills
Preferred: College coursework, college degree, or equivalent work experience
Requirements:
Able to understand and follow instructions
Open to making improvements based on feedback
Capable of setting a pace and maintaining a schedule with students
Competent with basic computer skills (like email and navigating online)
Fluent in English for speaking, reading, and writing
18 years of age or older with a high school diploma or equivalent
A citizen, national, or lawful permanent resident of the United
