BURLINGTON COMMUNITY SCHOOL DISTRICTPOSITION DESCRIPTION AND SPECIFICATION Position Title: 21" Century K- 8 Site Coordinator Incumbent: MultipleReports to: 21st Century Grant Coordinator FLSA Status: ExemptHours: 8 hours per day Days: 260__QUALIFICATIONSRequires the following (or equivalent qualifications):
Bachelor’s degree preferred
Experience working with volunteers
Excellent computer skills, including google docs, spreadsheets, databases
Flexibility in hours of work, including evenings and weekends
Prior experience working with elementary school students preferred
Exemplary customer service skills
POSITION PURPOSEProvide overall program support to 21stCentury/PIECES staff, parents, and students. Maintain positive contact and communication with all families involved in the program. PERFORMANCE ACCOUNTABILITIES
Updates all reports every Monday or Friday. These include afterschool attendance, activities, volunteers, staff, and family involvement. Biannual, or as needed, compiling data needed for Iowa Department of Education reporting including grades, any Iowa assessments, student behavior and school attendance.
Tracks and records monthly all volunteer hours.
Organizes snacks and dinners. Coordinates all meal support with food service personnel Creates and disseminates a monthly newsletter to all parents.
Planning and execution of program events, field trips, family literacy, and parent nights in each building.
Assists in the coordination of the Club M afterschool program in participating buildings
Ensures that pictures of all events are taken and stored for use in promotion
Meets with afterschool staff twice each year to review participant attendance, grant goals, activities, and professional development plans
Meets with 21st Century Grant Coordinator monthly to review each building’s participation, program success and challenges, grant budget, professional development plans, and volunteer coordination
Coordinates supply, material, equipment and transportation requests
Coordinates the implementation of programs, daily activities and special events
Schedules, monitors and evaluates effectiveness of staff either assigned or contracted by 21stCCLC
Plans, helps sponsor and participates in activities designed to implement goals the 21stCCLC
Must be able to conduct activities for groups on some occasions
Must attend scheduled Site Coordinator meetings and training sessions as required.
SKILLS AND ABILITIES Excellent human relations skills. Has necessary verbal and written communication skills, including ability to make presentations. Excellent organizational, analytical and problem-solving skills. Proven skills such as planning, organizing, and coordinating. Ability to relate positively with students, staff, parents and the public. Ability to effectively monitor, evaluate and develop students. Demonstrated leadership skills and a desire to lead. PHYSICAL, MENTAL, AND VISUAL EFFORTContinuous speaking, hearing, and visual effort. Frequent walking, sitting, standing and reaching. Occasional climbing. High degree of concentration requiring continuous and often intense mental and visual attention. Numerous irregularities, complicated and complex tasks are involved. Must have the ability to lift fifty or more pounds on a repetitive basis. Mobility required. WORKING CONDITIONSWork is primarily performed in a classroom setting, may include playground supervision and working with students in other settings. Occasionally exposed to dust, noise, odors, and other irritants. Stress associated with work pace and pressure. Work involves regular after-school hours. Some travel may be required.
