JOB GOAL:

GENERAL JOB SUMMARY:

Perform skilled work in the operation, installation, and testing of digital controls (DDC) for heating, ventilation, and air-conditioning (HVAC) of complex building systems. Applicant will also be active in facilities energy management strategies.

The typical work schedule for this position will be Monday through Friday from 8 am to 5 pm.

DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Perform programming, installation, configuration and maintenance of control systems and equipment

  • Setup and tune PID systems for air and water control systems

  • Work in collaboration with electro-mechanical technicians on a routine basis to resolve system issues and improve energy efficiency

  • Build and maintain graphic web pages within building automation system, using Niagara System

  • Respond to emergency situations such as: outages and disruption

  • Perform work in accordance with applicable safety rules and environmental regulatory requirements

  • Inspect projects and contractors to ensure work completed is incompliance with local and engineered standards

  • Attend contractor meetings to review specifications and provide guidance on building system controls

  • Schedule system shutdowns with clients, construction teams, and contractors

  • Involved with the strategic planning for system controls as it related to deferred maintenance.

  • Support the preventive maintenance program on system controls

  • Other duties as assigned.

  • Safely operate, maintain, and detect defects in equipment and make minor repairs or adjustments.

  • Perform scheduled maintenance on equipment.

  • Establish and maintain good working relationships with coworkers and supervisory personnel.

  • Working knowledge of electrical, HVAC, and Direct Digital Controls.

  • Knowledge of the occupational hazards and safety precautions in the job involved.

  • Understand and follow oral and written instructions.

  • Learn and operate the computer system that controls both the heating and cooling of all campus buildings, and electrical tester for repairing equipment.

PHYSICAL ACTIVITIES WITH/WITHOUT REASONABLE ACCOMMODATION:

Position involves working in an office setting. Occasional (10-33%) standing, pushing, pulling and grasping. Frequent (34-66%) reaching and viewing a computer and other types of close visual work. Constant (67-100%) sitting, walking, repetitive motion, talking and hearing.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Engineering degree or Associate degree in STEM/Computer Science/Engineering related field with direct controls experience.

  • Recent and relevant work experience.

PREFERREDQUALIFICATIONS, LICENSES, CERTIFICATIONS, OR REGISTRATIONS:

  • Experience Niagara systems.

  • Experience with Schneider, Trane, or other HVAC controllers.

  • Previous experience with controls, control engineering, PID loops, and control logic.

  • Experience in CAPA/Six Sigma or Reliability Engineering

  • Experience with MATLAB and SQL like language.
