Job Description

The 6th Judicial District of the Iowa Judicial Branch is seeking candidates for a Judicial Specialist 2 position in the Linn County Clerk of Court office located in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. We are looking for a team member with excellent customer services skills and an enthusiasm to learn and grow in our team-based work environment. In this position, the job duties will include, but may not be limited to, document processing using our statewide Electronic Document Management System (EDMS), extensive customer service, as well as assisting judges, attorneys, and outside agencies with court-related matters.

The starting salary for new State employees is at the base of the pay range which is $18.59/hour ($38,667.20 annually). Adjustments may be made if the successful applicant has relevant experience.

Location: Linn County, Cedar Rapids, Iowa

Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:00a to 4:30p

This position in the clerk’s office includes processing filings coming from pro se filers, attorneys, outside agencies, and judges. We serve as the keeper of the record, and we process documents and service documents as required. This role includes great attention to detail, extensive customer service along many lines, understanding of confidentiality, and believes in and supports a team player atmosphere.

Minimum Qualification Requirements

Graduation from an accredited high school (or High School Equivalency) and two (2) years of successful completion of accredited post high school education in business, paralegal, computer, legal assistant or related program.

AND

Two (2) years of professional office experience in business, court or legal work or a related area with one (1) year of the experience involving customer service.

At the discretion of the appointing authority additional years of experience may be substituted for the required post high school education. Or the successful completion of additional years of education (i.e., Bachelor’s Degree) may be substituted for years of experience on the basis that successful completion of thirty (30) semester hours or academic equivalent equals one year of experience. Education cannot be substituted for customer service experience.

Must be bondable.
