Job Description Summary

ESG Finance Reporting Leader to serve as the central point of contact for all ESG reporting by TA. This Leader will support the success of each relevant department (People Solutions, Tax, Procurement, Facilities, etc) by ensuring end deliverables are clear and the plan to achieve success is in place.

Job Description

Responsibilities:

  • Roll out comprehensive, structured & coordinated ESG Reporting Program within TA Financial Reporting.

  • Identify an ESG reporting ‘owner’ for each department; each such person will be primarily accountable for their functional area deliverables. Provide to support to each departmental reporting owner, and establish rapport to ensure accountability as well.

  • Ensure the business department understands the reporting requirements and has sufficient process & controls (and supporting documentation for those) in place to meet respective reporting requirement timelines

  • Understand the following for each department/functional reporting area. Depth of knowledge & oversight to be at a meaningful (yet higher level) than that of each functional area’s departmental (L3, perhaps) leader.

  • Reporting templates/requirements

  • Data elements/requirements

  • Relevant data sources and calculations

  • Relevant systems and processes

  • External/regulatory due dates

  • Project plans

  • Budget (internal & external)

  • Resourcing & defined roles by person in functional area/workstream

  • Readiness (including control design & implementation)

  • Partner with each functional area leader as needed to arrive at an independent view of each functional area’s status & risks.

  • Identify & advocate for functional area needs. For example, changes in functional role assignments, project plans, guidance interpretation, team members, vendors, etc.

  • Liaise and influence to ensure alignment with; all relevant governing bodies (SRP, NZWG, GSB, TSB), Stakeholders & contributors (at both TA and Group Finance)

  • Align the departmental leaders for sake of; best-practice sharing, fostering consistency in standards when/where it makes sense (documentation, process, quality, etc), project management approach (status templates, means of assessing progress & readiness, etc).

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance, or equivalent experience

  • Ten years of financial analysis experience, including work in the insurance, financial services or investment management industry

  • Expert knowledge of accounting/finance

  • Analytical and problem solving skills

  • Strategic thinker able to communicate on business/market and legislative issues at a macro level

  • Organizational and prioritization skills, and the ability to make timely decisions using the appropriate information

  • Excellent written/oral communication and presentation skills to provide complex information to diverse audiences

  • Advanced computer skills in MS Office, Excel and financial business systems

Preferred Qualifications:

  • CPA/advanced degree

  • Extensive knowledge of assigned business area (e.g. investments, premiums, IFRS, Statutory Accounting)

  • Financial reporting policy interpretation

  • Financial reporting process design & change implementation, including set-up of data governance and reporting controls

  • Documentation of process risks and controls (RCM, SIPOC, etc)

  • Project Management

Working Conditions:

  • Hybrid employees will need to work at a Company office location at times and a remote work location (typically their home) at times.
