Position Role Type:

The candidate will work alongside Mission Systems business and Operations leaders and their teams as required to optimize business processes and develop talent within the operating system. They will interact with other members of the Collins CORE Team, as well as CORE focals at the Business Units.

Success will be defined by the successful implementation and progression through the lean operating system with improvement in the maturity and relevant KPIs of each process. Candidate should have awareness of continuous improvement tools such as value stream mapping, root cause analysis, cell design, and material presentation. Candidate will be responsible for driving the strategic targets for the business, development plans for upskilling the organization, and developing standards and progress reports for CORE achievement.

Availability to work at any of the following sites: Cedar Rapids, IA, Windsor Locks, CT or Richardson, TX.

This role will be performed ONSITE in our Collins Aerospace location in Cedar Rapids, IA, Richardson, TX and Windsor Locks, CT.

What YOU Will Do:

Responsibilities:

  • Partner with the Mission System business leaders to understand their most important requirements.

  • Help drive appropriate improvement strategies based on current opportunities outlined in Mission Systems Goal Alignment.

  • Work and mentor with a team of selected Operational Excellence Leaders to set short term and long-term goals and objectives for Mission Systems (MiS) CORE & Lean maturity.

  • Partner with Missions Engineering and Quality Team members, Operational Excellence Leaders as a change agent on execution of key initiatives to achieve operational results.

  • Lead teams to resolve critical problems that involve consideration of multiple variables across multiple sites/organizations including customers and suppliers.

  • Explain policies, practices, and procedures and influence others.

  • Provide functional knowledge and maintain insight to current industry standard methodologies and how they can be applied.

  • Coach plant leadership to implement the Lean Operating System and assist Operations leaders to develop self- sufficiency within sites

  • Positively affect KPI change, including, but not limited to:

  • Lead Time (Days to Manufacture) decreases

  • On Time Start increases

  • Productivity increases

  • SRR Reduction

  • Schedule Stabilization improvement

  • Inventory reduction/optimization

  • Percent of parts with a Plan for Every Part

  • Travel domestic once a quarter

    Expectations of the role:

  • Strong leadership skills and the ability to influence and mentor teams to drive significant improvements in Lean and Operational Excellence.

  • Deep expertise in Lean methodologies, experience in managing cross-functional teams, and a solid understanding of industry best practices for operational efficiency.

  • Proactive change agent who embodies the company's commitment to continuous improvement, collaboration, and achieving measurable results.

  • Demonstrated track record of successfully resolving complex operational issues, improving key performance indicators, and effectively coaching plant leadership to foster self-sufficiency.

    What YOU Will Learn:

  • Exposure to broader Mission Systems business and facilitation of problem resolution and transformation

  • Exposure to Senior leadership organization

  • Support pursuing a CORE expert certification able to benchmark and use best practices with SBU’s across Collins Aerospace.

    Qualifications You Must Have:

  • Typically requires University Degree and minimum 12 years prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 10 years of experience or in absence of a degree, 16 years of relevant experience

  • U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are authorized to access information under this program/contract

    Qualifications We Prefer:

  • Demonstrated performance and results leading initiatives to support manufacturing

  • Experiencing designing and implementing strategic plans to improve the business

  • Demonstrated ability to lead high impact teams

  • Ability to work with technical teams in a global business

  • Able to craft clear communication to a broad audience, including Executives

  • Experience with MS Office products including Visio

  • Continuous Improvement certification is preferred, i.e. Lean/ACE/CORE certification, Six Sigma Black Belt, etc.

  • Strong analysis and problem-solving skills, able to identify and structure issues, and create recommendations/solutions

The salary range for this role is 143,000 USD - 287,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
