Rockwell Collins Inc. d/b/a Collins Aerospace has an opening for a Senior Engineer, Systems Engineering in Cedar Rapids, IA. This is a hybrid position that allows occasional remote work from home based on business needs.

What YOU will do

  • Execute objectives for requirements management, reliability, logistics, coordination of different teams, evaluation measurements, and other disciplines for large or complex projects.

  • Monitor the cost, effectiveness, and reliability of activities and recommend modifications to optimize resources, prioritize spending, and ensure that standards are met.

  • Manage work processes, optimization methods, and risk management tools for large or complex projects.

  • Research and evaluate investments or changes in technology, resources, procedures, equipment, systems, or other assets to improve the quality of the organization's systems products and services.

  • Provide analysis for the decomposition of customer specifications and system level requirements into sub-system and piece part requirements and develop verification criteria and plans for the requirements.

  • Manage configuration process, perform functional analysis, timeline analysis, detail trade studies, requirements allocation and interface definition studies to translate customer requirements into hardware and software specifications.

  • Ensure the logical and systematic conversion of product requirements into total systems solutions that acknowledge technical, schedule, and cost constraints. Performs architectural exploration.

    Qualifications You Must Have

  • Must possess at least a bachelor’s degree or its equivalent in Avionics Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Systems Engineering, or a related field and at least 5 years of progressive experience in a Systems Engineering position. In the alternative, must possess a master’s degree or its equivalent in Avionics Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Systems Engineering, or a related field and three years of experience in a Systems Engineering position would be acceptable.

  • Must possess at least 3 years of experience with certification standards, including ARP-5754a, DO-178B, DO-297.

  • Must possess least 3 years of experience with requirement development and verification on software systems.

Hybrid: Employees who are working in Hybrid roles will work regularly both onsite and offsite.

The salary range is $103,293 to $161,000 USD per year. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills).

Hired applicants may be eligible for annual short-term and/or long-term incentive compensation programs depending on the level of the position and whether or not it is covered by a collective-bargaining agreement. Payments under these annual programs are not guaranteed and are dependent upon a variety of factors including, but not limited to, individual performance, business unit performance, and/or the company’s performance.

This role is a U.S.-based role. If the successful candidate resides in a U.S. territory, the appropriate pay structure and benefits will apply.
