Alliant Energy is seeking a motivated Sr. Network Engineer to join our team in Cedar Rapids, IA or Madison, WI!

In this role you will operate as part of a dedicated team of IT professionals that maintains network, telecommunications, and voice infrastructure. You will provide support and implementation of data, telecommunications, and/or voice technologies, as well as provide problem resolution in a customer-oriented environment. You must have good communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to work in both a team environment and on self-directed tasks are vital. Leadership is an important aspect of this position, with the ability to provide technical leadership for more junior team members being critical.

This position may travel up to 20% of time.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Resolves medium– to-high complexity technical issues brought up through the Information Technology Help Desk and other methods for data, telecommunications, and/or voice technologies during and outside of core business hours. Interacts and cooperates with other internal and external support groups to facilitate resolution of technical issues to improve system availability and meet Service Level Agreements.

  • Plans and collaborates with team members to research, design, implement, monitor, maintain, and support key network, telecommunications, voice and/or collaboration infrastructure to establish a stable environment.

  • Coordinates the resolution of planned changes, upgrades, or outages of integrated network technologies, and participates in corporate disaster recovery efforts.

  • Provides continual technical expertise in the evaluation, planning, analysis, development and implementation of data, telecommunications, voice and/or collaboration technologies including but not limited to providing roadmaps, processes and procedures for both project work and general organizational growth in conjunction with other engineers and management.

  • Mentors more junior engineers and assists with the development of guidelines and tools for position duties; assists with on call duties as needed.

  • May participate in on-call rotations, including outside business hours; must be prepared to travel as required.

Required Qualifications

  • 4 + years of experience in the Information Technology field with an emphasis in networks, telecommunications, voice and/or collaboration technologies.

  • Hardware installation experience.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office.

  • Experience communicating with end users in problem / urgent situations.

  • Proficient diagramming and flow chart experience using software such as Microsoft Visio.

  • Ability to participate in on-call rotations, including after hours, and ability to travel as required.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or Information Technology with an emphasis in networks, telecommunications, voice and/or collaboration technologies.

  • Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) or higher Cisco certification.

  • Experience with Cisco routers, switches, wireless, ISE, ACI, DNA, F5 load balancers, InfoBlox, Palo Alto firewalls.

  • Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
