Senior Principal Systems Security Architect - Secure Processing Solutions (Onsite)

The Secure Processing Solutions (SPS) department is responsible for the design, test and certification of secure mission computers, cross domain technologies, and cryptographic products which equip our warfighters to thrive in today’s multi-domain battlespace. Our department collaborates with portfolio teams across the organization to help capture new business and create security hardened solutions that address our customers’ demanding needs.

The SPS Systems Engineering team is seeking a FPGA Design Engineer who has a passion for innovation and the drive to see new technology and capability matured into fielded solutions. You will play a vital role within a team of security focused professionals dedicated to leading the technical progression of our Raise-The-Bar (RTB) compliant Cross Domain products which enable information sharing and transmission across different security domains. You will contribute to the creation of our hardware based Cross Domain solution through design concept, NCDSMO accreditation, and ultimately ensure its ongoing deployment in real-world scenarios.

What YOU will do:

• YOU will lead the FPGA architectural planning, design, optimization, and validation while collaborating with CDS architects, systems, software, and hardware engineers, ensuring alignment with stringent performance, power, and size requirements for FPGA based CDS filter engine designs and network routers.

• YOU will work with software and systems engineers to develop requirements, architect designs, perform collaborative modeling of algorithms, partition and perform code development, simulation and debugging of prototypes, and develop verification criteria and plans.

• YOU will have the opportunity to participate in the secure systems development lifecycle, including trade study execution, architecture and design, and translation of system design into FPGA design.

• YOU will provide technical leadership of assigned scope and be cognizant for assigned cost and schedule, reporting status, key performance metrics, and discussion of issues and concerns across a team of up to twenty FPGA engineers.

• YOU will participate in and facilitate Agile team ceremonies, Agile sprint reviews, user story refinement and end of sprint product demos.

Education & Experience

• Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) unless prohibited by local laws/regulations and minimum 10 years prior relevant experience or an

• Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 7 years of experience or in absence of a degree, 14 years of relevant experience.

• Must be a U.S. Citizen

• The ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government issued security clearance is required. U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.

• Travel expectations up to 10%.

Skills you must have:

• Experience with designing and implementing digital design using FPGAs .

• Experience architecting FPGA based designs that translate system requirements and design into efficient FPGA requirements and design.

• Experience optimizing FPGA designs for size, performance, and power consumption for SWAP-C constrained implementations

• Experience working multiple projects and being responsible for multiple concurrent project milestones with overlapping deadlines.

• Experience developing complex networking IP, ethernet packet data structure analysis and filtering, Deterministic and Nondeterministic Finite Autonoma, and/or Touring Complete microprocessors.

• Experience using the Atlassian resource suite, specifically: Jira and Confluence

Skills we value:

• Active U.S. DoD security clearance

• FPGA design using VHDL and/or Verilog coding, FPGA verification using SystemVerilog coding

• Experience with Model Based Systems Engineering concepts and tools such as Magic Draw Cameo, Enterprise Architect, SysML, or similar resources.

• Engineering experience executing development of security hardened systems/products within a classified development environment.

• Recent and relevant experience with the secure systems engineering development process including requirements capture, design, decomposition, integration, verification, and validation.

• Experience working in an Agile or DevOps development environment and being part of highly integrated Agile teams working closely with multiple engineering development teams (SW, HW, Cyber, SYS).

The salary range for this role is 118,000 USD - 246,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
