Solution Engineer - Educational Technology Job Description
We are seeking a skilled Solution Engineer to design and implement innovative software solutions that enhance our educational technology platform. The ideal candidate will combine software engineering expertise with a strong understanding of user needs in the education sector. This role focuses on creating automated, efficient solutions that improve experiences for students, parents, and staff.
Responsibilities
Analyze complex business requirements and translate them into technical solutions
Design and develop automated software solutions to improve efficiency in educational processes
Understand user journeys and needs before proposing and implementing solutions
Create and optimize database solutions to support educational technology platforms
Develop scripts and programs to automate workflows and data processing tasks
Implement data visualizations and reports using Tableau to provide insights to stakeholders
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify areas for technological improvement
Quickly learn and adapt to new technologies relevant to our educational platform
Conduct solution presentations and demonstrations to internal teams and stakeholders
Troubleshoot complex issues and optimize existing systems
Document technical solutions and maintain comprehensive documentation
Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field
Strong software engineering background with a focus on solution design
Proficiency in Python programming
Strong SQL skills and database management experience
Experience with or ability to quickly learn Tableau for data visualization
Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to learn new technologies rapidly
Strong analytical skills with a focus on translating business needs into technical solutions
Ability to communicate complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders
Technical Skills
C# programming, with its coding environment, Microsoft's Visual Studio
Python programming
SQL and database management
Tableau (or demonstrated ability to learn quickly)
Version control systems (e.g., Git)
Basic understanding of web technologies (HTML, CSS, JavaScript)
Preferred Qualifications
Experience in educational technology or with Student Information Systems
Knowledge of data privacy and security in educational contexts
Familiarity with Agile development methodologies: Jira
Experience with cloud-based services and API integrations
