Are you looking to grow your career while growing our business here at Collins Aerospace? The Military Avionics and Helicopters organization is expanding its Cargo/Transport Platform Systems Engineering team to accommodate growth in the exciting new E-2D and C-130 Flight2 Avionics programs.

We looking to onboard high performing System engineers to quickly engage with the existing team and work directly with our customer and subsystems as we launch and refine the next evolution of the Flight2 Avionics Platform, utilizing an Agile Development environment.

Our Systems Engineering team touches all aspects and products within the Flight2 Avionics solution with opportunities to influence and own forward looking strategic planning, roadmaps and architectures. The team has direct customer and end user interaction as well as coordination across subsystem teams and various stakeholders. Travel opportunities exist for those looking to provide in-person technical guidance or establish new relationships with our customers.

This is an onsite position based in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Work as part of the program leadership team for a small to large programs.

  • Lead technical presentations and discussions with the customer.

  • Lead Platform Systems level design activities and program pursuits.

  • Provide mentoring within the department on best practices.

  • Apply cost and schedule management methods to project activities and bids.

  • Capture requirements and establish solid designs for new programs.

  • Support testing activities during the avionics development life-cycle.

  • Coordinate communication and status to relevant stakeholders.

  • Drive resolution for technical issues through problem solving and coordination across Teams.

  • Coach, review and delegate work to less experienced engineers.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) unless prohibited by local laws/regulations and minimum 5 years prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 3 years of experience or in absence of a degree, 9 years of relevant experience.

  • U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are authorized to access information under this program/contract.

  • Aerospace Industry Experience.

    Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with Systems and Software Integration activities

  • Experience with Software host based simulation environments

  • Experience with Avionics Systems Engineering following certification practices

  • Experience Leading and coordinating the development of technical proposals as well as program level cost estimates during the bid and proposal cycle.

  • Experience in executing projects to completion in project management and/or technical roles

  • Capable of estimating, tracking, and communicating cost, schedule, and risk in support of program earned value metrics

  • Good written and verbal communications skills and the ability to work well with others in a professional team environment

  • Good organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks while balancing priorities and schedules

  • Experience working effectively in highly collaborative environments and a demonstrated ability to take ownership of tasks and lead technical efforts spanning multiple stakeholders

  • Self-sufficient and able to work independently, owning the responsibility to collaborate and seek guidance/support as needed.

  • Experience with DevSecOps tools and techniques

  • Experience with Agile methodologies

The salary range for this role is 77,000 USD - 163,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
