Collins Aerospace is looking for a Supplier Quality Engineer-First Article Inspection for our Cedar Rapids, Iowa location.

In this position you are responsible for providing quality objectives for the business unit in accordance with Collins Aerospace quality policies and procedures and in compliance with applicable contractual requirements. You must be able to work within cross-functional teams to meet and improve upon established quality and delivery goals. As a Supplier Quality Engineer for this project you will be a focal point for quality issues, as well as responsible for continuing to develop and improve the processes associated with compliance to Collins Aerospace Quality Standards. You will operate in the following functional areas: Quality Assurance, Quality System Validation, Supply Chain Quality Assurance, or Material Verification.

This is an ONSITE position located in Cedar Rapids, IA. This position may be eligible for relocation.

Job Responsibilities

  • Performs preliminary review and Material Review Board analysis of First Article Inspection Reports and disposition of nonconforming material.

  • Evaluates Collins Aerospace or supplier products and processes.

  • Analyzes root causes of deficiencies and ensures proper corrective actions are implemented in a timely manner.

  • Applies quality standards for receiving in-process and final inspection in accordance with Collins Aerospace and contractual requirements.

  • Provides support to manufacturing operations in the review of products and of engineering and manufacturing processes.

  • Maintains a working relationship with key customer procurement organizations to the benefit of the customer and Collins Aerospace.

  • Maintains quality data records, compiles information, and prepares reports for internal and external customers.

  • Performs duties required by the Quality Management System.

  • Identifies need for and delivers training materials to Collins Aerospace or suppliers related to the Quality Management System.

  • Evaluates, revises, and applies Procedures and Methods related to the Collins Aerospace/Business Unit Quality Management System.

  • Administers an effective evaluation and audit program for Collins Aerospace or its supply base to ensure conformance to Collins Aerospace process and product requirements.

  • Utilizes lean or six sigma tools to evaluate Collins Aerospace or supplier products and processes. Analyzes root causes of deficiencies and ensures proper corrective actions are implemented in a timely manner.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) unless prohibited by local laws/regulations and minimum 2 years of prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field or in absence of a degree, 6 years of relevant experience

  • U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are authorized to access information under this program/contract

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings (Dimension, tolerance, and basic GD&T Symbology)

  • Familiar with industry specification and standards interpretation

  • Familiar with inspection methods and techniques

  • Knowledge in Microsoft Office programs (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)

  • Experience with continuous improvement principles, Six Sigma, lean, 5S etc.

  • Familiar with problem solving techniques like PDCA

  • Able to make quick decisions based in facts and risk analysis, even under high-pressured situations

  • Familiar with AS9102 and or First Article Inspection process and requirements

  • Experience in supplier management and development

The salary range for this role is 64,000 USD - 128,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
