Caring Transitions Team Member in Cedar Rapids/Iowa City surrounding areas, Iowa

The ideal candidate will be friendly, customer service oriented, and have a passion for serving others. He/she must be do repetitive lifting and bending. Empathy, honesty, integrity and reliability are paramount and hired employees must successfully pass a background check. Candidate must have cell phone, as well as reliable transportation and GPS/Google maps accessibility in order to travel to various job sites. Hours are as needed and no minimum number of hours is guaranteed. Hours of operation are mostly 9am to 3pm Monday – Friday. Saturdays are based on an as needed bases.

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Sorting and organizing: work with the client to go through their things, helping them decide what to keep, donate, discard, etc.

  • Planning: helping clients decide what items they can fit in their new space.

  • Packing: Carefully wrapping and boxing up items to be moved.

  • Overseeing movers and making sure items are moved as planned

  • Resettling involves unpacking the clients’ belongings in their new space. Although we can estimate how long this will take, it may run over and we must stay until the job is complete.

  • Online Estate Sales: put items into lots, photograph them, and write descriptions using a mobile device. Lots are then tagged and left until pickup day. The lots are listed on Caring Transitions online auction site (www.ctbids.com). The customers who won the auction lots arrive to pick up their items. Before their arrival, we collect their lots so they are ready when they get there. When all items are picked up, we package leftover items for donation, discard any trash, and sweep floors and vacuum carpets, leaving home ready for next occupants.

  • Cleanouts: There are often instances where we must clean out a home due to items were left. We will arrange those items to go to charity, recycle, or be discarded. This includes those with light hoarding situations. They can often be dusty, dirty, and have unpleasant conditions and/or odors. These situations often require compassion and understanding toward the individuals involved.

  • Report all incidents/accidents to Manager

  • Other duties as assigned

    Qualifications & Skills:

  • Minimum (1) years of Customer Service preferred

  • Must have High School Diploma or GED.

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced and unique work environment

  • Excellent problem solving and decision making skills

  • Commitment to high professional ethical standards

  • Strong planning and organization skills with a sharp eye for attention to detail

    Hours: Typically 6 hours shifts, Monday – Friday 9am – 3pm (some Saturdays based on jobs booked, daytime hours may vary)

    Pay: $16 per hour

  • Must have reliable transportation to commute to various job sites
