Job Description:

Job Title: Facility Painting/General Repairs Tech

Department: Maintenance

FLSA: Non-Exempt

General Function:

Performs general facility painting and repairs. Must have experience and knowledge of preparation of surface, mixing paint, spray guns, and all other tools used for painting multiple surfaces. Days and hours of job could vary.

Reporting Relations:

Accountable and Reports to: Distribution Maintenance Supervisor; Assistant Department Manager, Maintenance

Positions that Report to you: None

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Painting of aluminum, stainless and mild steel, pallet jack, and forklift equipment. 50%

  • Performs sanding, blasting, masking and other prep work. 30%

  • Patching and painting of parking lots, buildings and walls. 10%

  • Mixes paint according to instructions; makes adjustments to spray gun and any other equipment to obtain desired quality. 10%

  • Knowledge of paint storage, handling and other compliance and safety procedures 10%

  • Reports to work when scheduled and on time.

Secondary Duties and Responsibilities: (These are considered occasional in nature)

  • Does basic constructions, sheetrock, concrete repair as needed.

  • Keeps paint supplies stored and cleaned up in correct area.

  • Follow PPE and other safety compliance.

  • Performs other job related duties and special projects as required.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Worker Characteristics:

  • Knowledge of proper surface preparation, paint and painting techniques and painting equipment.

  • Must pass Distribution Physical and Drug Screen.

  • Must have the ability to solve practical problems; variety of variables with limited standardization; interpret instructions.

  • Must have the ability to do simple addition and subtraction; copying figures, counting and recording.

  • Must have the ability to interpret written work instructions; write identifying information; request supplies orally or in writing; guide people and provide basic direction.

Education and Experience:

High school or equivalent experience preferred.

Over one year up to three years of similar or related work experience. Preparation/paint background helpful.

Physical Requirements:

  • Must be physically able to perform heavy work: exerting up to 20-50 pounds of force occasionally, 10-25 pounds of force frequently, and 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.

  • Visual requirements include vision from 20 inches or less to 20 feet or more with or without correction, depth perception, and field of vision.

  • Must be able to perform the following physical activities: Climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, fingering, grasping, feeling, talking, hearing, and repetitive motions.

Working Conditions:

The duties of this position are performed in a combination of warehouse and outdoor settings. There is exposure to dirt, noise, temperature extremes, dampness, vibrations, equipment movement hazards, dangerous chemical or solvents, and electrical shock.

Equipment Used To Perform Job:

Must provide own hand tools. Standard shop or repair tools provided include hammer drill, grinders, welder, drills, skill saw, and chop saw. Frequently operates tractor, stacker, and pallet jack, scissor lift, various types of ladders, scaffolding, genie lift, paint sprayers, and air purifying respirators
