TEKsystems Medical Coder in Clive, Iowa

Description:

All coding will be professional billing - surgery and in-clinic coding. Looking for someone that will work 100% onsite in Clive, IA.

Must be a certified coder with professional coding experience. This role has the potential to lead to a leadership role (Team Lead or Manager) so very open to candidates with this experience and interest.

Responsibilities:

Will assist with surgery coding and filling in gaps on the administrative and revenue cycle sides of the house. Will be assisting with specialty surgery and in-office coding and looking for someone that can assist with other tasks as well. 50-80% of this role will be surgery/in-office coding (based on the candidate).

Medical Coding duties (for the clinic and Surgery Center) include: billing IDD and OID pharmacy, working rejections and denials, posting payments and reviewing accounts, sending invoicing to work questions for validation, follow ups, and posting pharmacy payments.

Daily Duties:

Researches all information needed to complete billing process including getting charge information from physicians.

Codes information about procedures performed and diagnosis on charge.

Assists in the processing of insurance claims including Medicaid/Medicare claims.

Processes all insurance provider’s correspondence, signature, and insurance forms.

Assists patients in completing all necessary forms, to include payment arrangements made with patients. Answers patient questions and concerns.

Keys charge information into entry program and produces billing.

Processes and distributes copies of billings according to clinic policies.

Prepares bank deposits, records deposits, photocopies checks for entry into billing system.

Follows-up with insurance companies and ensures claims are paid/processed.

Resubmits insurance claims that have received no response or are not on file.

Works with other staff to follow-up on accounts until zero balance.

Assists error resolution.

Maintains required billing records, reports, files.

Research return mail.

Answers telephone, screens calls, takes messages, and provides information.

Participate in regularly scheduled, routine coverage of the Financial Office to assist visiting patients.

Participates in educational activities.

Maintains strictest confidentiality.

Candidates must have knowledge of billing practices, clinic policies and procedures, coding and clinic operating policies, medical terminology, insurance and strong computer skills.
