The Research Scientist II, under minimal supervision, supports the investigation, development, and validation of CRISPR/Functional Genomics applications through bench scientific experiments. This position is responsible for planning and executing experiments, analyzing data, reporting/presenting findings, and supporting IDT customers. The strongest candidate would display a cross-disciplinary skill set in both laboratory technique and computational biology know-how. This position offers the opportunity to learn new theories and techniques related to the field of genome editing and provides opportunities for growth within IDT.

In this role, you will have the opportunity to:

  • Apply knowledge of basic science and employ solid laboratory skills to execute bench experiments using variety of molecular biology, cell biology, biochemical and general laboratory techniques as directed

  • Interact with internal departments and IDT customers to assist with customer service/technical support and to advance collaborative research projects as directed

  • Plan experimental details required for execution of assigned work under minimal to moderate oversight

  • Introduce new techniques into the research group which have not previously been used at IDT

  • Represent IDT at scientific conferences and trade shows, assists in preparing and presenting scientific posters

The essential requirements of the job include:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Biology, Genetics, Chemistry, or a related life sciences field with 3+ years relevant lab or industry experience OR Advanced degree (Master’s degree or PhD) in Biology, Genetics, Chemistry or a related life sciences field with 1+ years relevant lab or industry experience

  • 2+ years of demonstrated knowledge of CRISPR editing systems

  • 2+ years of demonstrated ability to design and perform experiments with minimal to moderate supervision

It would be a plus if you also possess experience in:

  • Programming and data analysis experience in a distributed Unix environment

  • Previous experience with CRISPR-related techniques
