Job Title: Manufacturing Engineer Division: Precision Pulley & Idler (PPI)

FLSA: Exempt Grade: NA

Job Status: Full Time Travel Required: 0-25%

Revision Date: August 15, 2024 Reports To: Engineering Manager-Manufacturing

PURPOSE OF POSITION

Develop and improve manufacturing processes by studying product and manufacturing methods, develop innovative processes and solutions to manufacturing challenges in support of Precision Inc.’s strategic initiatives.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The following duties are normal for this position. These are not to be construed as exclusive or all inclusive. Other duties may be required and assigned.

More specifically, the employee owner will:

  • Evaluate manufacturing processes by designing and conducting research; applies knowledge or product design, fabrication, assembly, tooling, and materials; conferring equipment vendors; soliciting observations from operators.

  • Develop manufacturing processes by studying product requirements; researching, designing, modifying, and testing manufacturing methods and equipment; conferring with equipment vendors.

  • Assure product and process quality by designing testing methods; testing-finished product and process capabilities; establishing standards; confirming manufacturing processes.

  • Improve manufacturing efficiency by analyzing and planning work flow, space requirements, and equipment layout.

  • Provide technical assistance to manufacturing process of new and existing products.

  • Provide manufacturing engineering information by answering questions and requests.

  • Complete design and development projects by training and guiding technicians.

  • Lead and support continuous improvement activities and assist with cost reduction projects.

  • Establish and maintain plant layouts.

  • Assist Industrial Engineers with establishing and maintaining production limits at each facility.

  • Provide support and resources to office and production floor employees.

  • Create and maintain visual work instructions.

  • Create and maintain preventive maintenance work instructions for machines.

  • Recommend, specify, approve, and buying of services, equipment, parts, and outsourcing.

  • Lead and/or participate in workshop activities.

  • Domestic and international travel may be required Use and understand various paperwork, including schedules, prints, & tech standards.

  • Support development and launch of new product to ensure a successful transition into production.

EDUCATION – EXPERIENCE – COMPUTER SKILLS

  • Bachelor’s degree from a four-year college or university; or

  • One to two years related experience and/or training; or

  • Equivalent combination of education and experience.

TRAINING – CERTIFICATIONS – LICENSES

  • Continually participate in additional training related to the job.

ENVIRONMENTAL ADAPTABILITY

  • The noise level in the work environment is usually LOUD when on the production floor and moderate when working in the office.

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to work near moving mechanical parts, fumes or airborne particles and outdoor weather conditions.

  • Steel-toe safety shoes, safety glasses, hearing protection and any additional PPE that may be required depending on the area where work is being performed while in production areas.
