Responsibilities

Summary of Purpose

Responsible for the provision of advanced practice clinician professional services within the specialty of behavioral medicine. Under the supervision of the Psychiatrist, evaluates and develops treatment plans for patients with mental illness or substance abuse problems. Serves as a resource and educator to patients, family members, and staff.

Uses and discloses patient protected health information: 1) only as it applies to job functions, 2) in amounts minimally necessary for intended purpose, and 3) in a confidential manner.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities

Essential Job Functions:

  1. Obtain and maintain appropriate allied health practice privileges, pursuant to the qualifications and procedures set forth in health center’s medical staff bylaws.

  2. Treat patients according to, and perform such clinical procedures as are consistent with, Nurse Practitioner’s licensure, clinical specialty and privileges, practice, and training.

  3. Prepare and maintain all reports, claims, and correspondence necessary or appropriate to the performance of professional services.

  4. Attend professional conventions, post-graduate seminars, and continuing medical education programs to maintain and enhance Nurse Practitioner’s professional skills, and participate in professional societies on a reasonable basis.

  5. Promote the professional practice of Nurse Practitioner and of Network.

  6. Provide coverage as qualified when other physician, nurse practitioner, or similar professional provider employees at the facilities at which Nurse Practitioner practices are unavailable due to vacations, holidays, illness, family or medical leave, and attendance at professional activities.

  7. Cooperate with Network in the event of a claim, threatened claim, or litigation involving Network.

  8. Supervise nurses and other personnel in accordance with Network’s policies, procedures, and applicable laws.

  9. Participate in Network credentialing and peer review activities.

  10. Assist Network and Hospital/Medical Center in obtaining and maintaining any and all licenses, permits, and other authorizations, plus achieving any applicable accreditation standards, including without limitation those that relate to Nurse Practitioner’s services.

  11. Participate in and cooperate with Network’s and Hospital/Medical Center’s community service activities consistent with and in furtherance of Network’s charitable mission by, without limitation, assisting in community health and wellness education, community service activities, and treatment of indigent and charity care patients, including patients covered by Medicaid and other state health programs.

  12. Actively and regularly promote Nurse Practitioner’s services and practice in the community by participating in appropriate marketing, speaking, and community activities/events as recommended or requested by Network or Hospital/Medical Center.

  13. Keep and maintain (or cause to be kept and maintained) appropriate records (including, without limitation, patient charts) on a timely basis, pursuant to requirements at the Hospital/Medical Center or, as applicable, at such other facility at which Nurse Practitioner has allied health privileges relating to all professional services rendered by Nurse Practitioner.

  14. In furtherance of Network’s stated goal of including Nurse Practitioner representation on Network’s committees, taskforces, and workgroups, actively participate in same to the extent reasonably requested to do so.

  15. Undertake such other duties as may be reasonably requested by Network from time to time, within the scope of Nurse Practitioner’s general responsibilities.

Qualifications

Education :

Graduate from an accredited program for Nurse Practitioners.

Licensure/Certification:

1.

  1. Licensed in the State of Nebraska to perform the duties of the Nurse Practitioner.

  2. Current DEA certification and NPI number.

  3. Life support certification per policy.

Pay Range

$40.97 - $250.00 /hour
