EXPERIENCE: Previous experience with inspection processes with metal casting processes a plus. Pervious Certification in FPI (Florescent Penetrant Inspection) a plus. On the job training provided.

GENERAL DESCRIPTION:

Must have good vision/sight (must meet industry standards and have no color discrimination), depth perception, hearing, and hand-eye coordination, and dexterity. Reading, writing, above average math aptitude is necessary. Must be team-oriented, problem-solver, and self-motivated. Must be able to follow written work instructions. Must be able to multitask and meet production goals and deadlines. Must be team-oriented and have good communication skills. Must have great attention to detail. Must be able to lift 50lbs on a regular basis. Must be able to grip, push, and pull with 80lb strength on a regular basis. Must be able to generate 15lbs of pinch strength on occasion. Must be able to pass a pre-employment physical. Must be able to perform elevated work on an occasional basis. Some tasks require repetitive activities. Must be able to stand on concrete up to 8 hours. Must be willing to cross-train within the classification. Must be able to follow all safety rules and wear all required personal protective equipment. Must be willing to work any shift. Inspection Level 1 includes: Rough Inspection, Borescope, Final Inspection, and Shipping Inspection.

SPECIFIC DUTIES:

Visual Inspection Rough, Final, and Shipping

Must be able to demonstrate complete knowledge of and perform precise and accurate review of each casting to ensure that the customer requirements are met per the IIS instructions

Must be able to pass a competency test to be issued an inspection certification stamp.

Must be able to inspect finished or in-process castings and determine if the casting is accepted or rejected by using measuring tools and following written work instructions, and communicating with various levels of employees, management, and departments.

Must be able to use hand gages, such as micrometers and ultrasonic testers.

Must be able to calibrate equipment and verify the testing equipment is calibrated prior to use.

Must be able to reinspect castings for any nonconformance found during the different inspection steps.

Must be able to identify various defects for each casting through several different processes and stages of the casting.

Must be able to accurately fill out QDIR cards for any nonconformance and keep proper documentation and records for each casting.

Must have very good attention to detail and understand number sequences for casting number, serial numbers, employee assigned numbers, and identifying numbers related to the traveler to ensure the casting that is being inspected is the correct casting for the documentation provided.

Borescope

Must be able to work with a scope to dig out defects and ensure internal passages are not blocked.

Must be able to operate a scope and tools associated with cleaning the internal passages of each casting.

Must be able to operate and calibrate gauges and testing equipment.
