Supervision of all phases of the track and field program--planning, strategy, instruction in fundamentals, and so forth
Responsible for care and issuance of all track and field equipment used by the team
Communicate with the high school coaching staff(s) and attend meetings or mini clinics at high school(s) to ensure continuity in the DSCD 7-12 grade track and field programs
Understand, monitor and enforce district academic standards, policies and eligibility requirements
Develop athletes to their fullest potential, starting with the basic fundamentals of track and progressing to skills beyond what is considered average.
Understand and promote good sportsmanship among student-athletes
Complete required reports and record accurately and in a timely manner
Has a thorough knowledge of and responsible for the athletic policy approved by the Board of Education
Supervise athletes at all practices and games, as well as in the locker room and on the bus
Must possess an enthusiastic attitude and ability to understand intermediate-aged youth in an athletic setting
Work in cooperation with the building Activity Director and with the Director of Athletics for the Davenport Community Schools
Other duties as assigned by administration
Must be willing to support and implement Davenports multi-tiered system of supports (MTSS) for both behavior and academics
Successful candidate must possess strong interpersonal skills with a proven record of building rapport with culturally diverse students to ensure each child reaches his/her full potential
Good attendance and punctuality are a must to ensure that the duties and responsibilities of the job are performed successfully

Sit, stand, speak, hear, see, and walk to carry out routine duties.
Must be able to occasionally lift, move, or push items of 50 lbs. such as assisting children or moving/rearranging furniture.
Must be able to supervise students in all types of weather.
Meet multiple demands from several people and interact with the public and other staff.
Must be able to implement Crisis Prevention Intervention strategies, including appropriate physical restraint procedures and escorting.

Special Qualification Desired:(Personal Qualities, Education, Skills Needed, Experience, Etc.)
Must hold a valid Iowa Coaching Authorization or Iowa Teaching License with Coaching Endorsement
Experience with competition/success at the state level is desired.
