Assist with supervision of all phases of the basketball program--planning, strategy, instruction in fundamentals, and so forth.
Responsible for care and issuance of all basketball equipment used by the team.
Communicate with high school coaching staff(s) and attend meetings or mini clinics at high school(s) to ensure continuity in the DCSD 7-12 grade boys’ football program.
Understand, monitor and enforce district academic standards, policies and eligibility requirements.
Develop players to their fullest potential, starting with the basic fundamentals of the game of basketball and progressing to skills beyond what is considered average.
Understand and promote good sportsmanship among student-athletes.
Complete required reports and record accurately and in a timely manner.
Has a thorough knowledge of and responsible for the athletic policy approved by the Board of Education.
Supervise players at all practices and games, as well as in the locker room and on the bus.
Must possess an enthusiastic attitude and ability to understand intermediate-aged youth in an athletic setting.
Work in cooperation with the building Activity Director and with the Director of Athletics for the Davenport Community Schools
Other duties as assigned by administration.
Must be willing to support and implement Davenport's multi-tiered system of supports (MTSS) for both behavior and academics.
Successful Candidate must possess strong interpersonal skills with a proven record of building rapport with culturally diverse students to ensure each child reaches his/her full potential
Good attendance and punctuality are a must to ensure that the duties and responsibilities of the job are performed successfully

Must be able to occasionally lift, move, or push items of 50 lbs. such as assisting children or moving/rearranging furniture.
Must be able to supervise students in all types of weather.
Meet multiple demands from several people and interact with the public and other staff.
Must be able to implement Crisis Prevention Intervention strategies, including appropriate physical restraint procedures and escorting.

Must possess valid Iowa coaching authorization and submit completed NFHS Online Concussion Course
