Description:
Position Title: Groundskeeper Department: Grounds Purpose: Performs grounds maintenance and landscaping activities at Genesis Medical Center and offsite properties. Assists in maintaining and planting flowerbeds, trees, bushes, hedges, and shrubs using hand tools or motorized vehicles. Trims lawns and repairs damaged ground areas. Assists with replacement of plantings and trees as directed. Fertilizes turf when needed for plant/lawn growth. Removes snow from sidewalks and parking lots as requested. Spreads salt on sidewalks and parking lots during icy conditions. Complies with safe work practices. Report To: Supervisor, Grounds Supervisory Responsibility: No Supervision: The job does not require the provision of guidance or supervision to others. There is no formal responsibility for directing others. Materials Responsibility: Very Limited. Work requires very limited responsibility for material resources. Examples of resources could include personal work materials, supplies or equipment, or very small amounts of cash. The employee has a very limited or indirect amount of control over these resources. Although human error might require the repair or replacement of materials, usually the cost of correcting these errors is minor. The variety and volume of resources is also very limited. Problems associated with material resources are very uncomplicated. Key Relationship: Co-workers/Health System Employees, General Public/Visitors/Volunteers, Vendors/Clients, Physicians/Medical Office Staff POSITION SPECIFICATION Education: High school graduation or equivalent Field Of Study: N/A Special Training: N/A Training Preferred: Lawncare or turf courses Licensure/Registration: Valid Driver's License Experience: Less than 1 year experience required. Interpersonal Skills: Interaction is with fellow employees or peers within the immediate work area. Communications with others are generally routine. The need for interpersonal skills is very limited. Interactions usually involve brief, simple exchanges of information. The job requires very basic communication skills and common courtesy. Working Conditions: There is exposure to moderately adverse and undesirable environmental conditions. There are some health and safety risks. Position may require safety equipment and precautions.
