Eaton Corporation Senior Lead Engineer in Davenport, Iowa

Eaton’s Mission Systems Division is currently seeking a Senior Lead Engineer. This position is located in the growing Quad Cities, specifically in Davenport, IA. The expected annual salary range for this role is $105000.03 - $154000.04 a year. This position is also eligible for a variable incentive program. The Davenport facility has 900 employees and is leader in in the design, development, manufacture and delivery of aerospace mission systems components, systems and services to the US defense and commercial global aftermarket and OEM markets. World Leader in Air to Air Refueling technology.

What you’ll do:

This position is to provide technical subject matter expertise (SME) for Air-to-Air Refueling (AAR) system design, qualification and support. The Senior Lead Engineer will create their own strategy, direction, priorities and develops constructive solutions aligning to business needs. Coordinates multi-disciplined engineering projects from design to implementation and serves as an expert resource for other engineers. Reviews project deliverables to ensure its accuracy and co-ordinate with engineering teams. Has in depth knowledge of division goals and strategies and drives business objectives / improvements impacting division-wide measures. Identifies opportunities or connections that enhance business performance.

• Manages complex projects/programs involving multiple components for completeness, compatibility, and compliance. Has sphere of influence at the site level and is viewed as an expert within the AAR team.

• Identifies opportunities / connections within the company and technical associations that enhances business performance.

• Participation in development and execution ownership of AAR technical roadmaps. Utilizes domain expertise to drive innovation and technology roadmap activities aligned to customer needs.

• Engineering technical role for AAR products aligned to the site product line chief engineers. Incumbent will act as subject matter expert within the AAR product line.

• Possesses awareness of the strategic vision of the company’s future products and services.

• Generates technical solutions and has accountability for the integrity of design solutions on multiple programs including program technical and design reviews.

• Drives best practice methodologies for MSD AAR products across aerospace with proven methods & tools and serves as the “surrogate customer” for quality acceptance of all products & technical deliverables by personally getting involved, designing, teaching, coaching & mentoring

• Completes conceptual/clean sheet designs for more complex technical domains

• Collaborates with customers and anticipates the future based on a deep understanding and familiarity of current technology trends and directions.

• Collaborates with suppliers on technical offerings and design approval.

• Serve as key technical lead to the Integrated Program Development Team, and to customers on large and complex programs.

• Establishes the criteria for risks, design trade-off, and component interactions through design guides

• Leads Non-Advocate Reviews across Aerospace programs as tasked

• Teaches and promotes application of Design for Six Sigma (DFSS) tools and methods

• Reviews and judges the suitability of requirements management plan and systems engineering plan on the program for technical and non-technical requirements.

• Advises on requirements negotiations including compliance terms and conditions to assist in developing commercial proposal and execution of the same

• Capable of running analysis tools within their technical domain

• Mentoring within the engineering organization

• Other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

Basic Qualifications:

•Bachelor’s degree in Engineering from an accredited institution

•Minimum of 7 years of experience within aerospace or a high-tech industry with new product development and sustaining support.

•Minimum of 3 years of experience in aerospace, mechanical, hydraulic, or electrical components and/or systems.

•Must be authorized to work in the United States without company sponsorship now or in the future

•This position requires use of information or access to hardware which is subject to the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR). Additionally, the position requires access to U.S. government data and potential ability to obtain a U.S. Security Clearance for which the U.S. Government requires U.S. Citizenship.

•No relocation benefit is being offered for this position. Only candidates that currently reside within 70 miles of the Davenport, IA facility will be considered. Active-Duty Military Service member candidates are exempt from the geographical area limitation.

Preferred Qualifications:

•Advanced Engineering degree from an accredited institution.

•10 years of experience within aerospace industry with new product development and sustaining support – specific to Air-to-Air Refueling systems and/or other aerospace and mission equipment systems

•Key role in aerospace related professional organization

•DFSS Greenbelt with a development plan for Blackbelt certification.
