Palmer College of Chiropractic Technique Instruction Faculty in Davenport, Iowa

This is a full-time ranked faculty position in the Technique instruction department.

We are seeking an innovative individual for a full-time, ranked Technique Faculty member position. A strong background in clinical anatomy and Palmer Package technique is desired. This position offers an exc iting opportunity to work with the next generation of chiropractors set to be the trusted leaders in health and wellness.

The term Faculty is limited to regular personnel at Palmer whose regular assignment includes instruction, research and/or public service as a principal activity and who hold academic rank as Professor, Associate Professor, Assistant professor or Instructor. Faculty play an important role in curriculum and policy development; faculty are planners who must constantly look to the long-term future of education and discovery. The faculty is expected to work closely with students, other faculty and administration of the College in promoting interests of the Palmer University System and it’s strategic plan.

Duties include preparing/presenting lectures, composing and grading exams, practicals, quizzes and assisting student in developing the psycho-motor skills required in performing patient evaluation and management in the Technique department.

ORGANIZATIONAL RELATIONSHIPS

  • Responsible to the assigned administrator and has a support responsibility to all other departments and college personnel as necessary.

  • Responsible for the direct supervision of department personnel and others as assigned by the appropriate administrator.

    SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Faculty duties fall under several areas: teaching, scholarly work, service/citizenship and advising/mentorship. Some faculty may also have patient care responsibilities as part of their assignment. Specifically, the following activities are expected of all faculty:

  • Preparation and presentation of individual lectures.

  • Course syllabus management, contents review.

  • Teaching Palmer Package and assisted adjusting techniques across various levels of the curriculum.

  • Assessing and assisting students in development of adjusting psycho-motor skills.

  • Engage in scholarly research and contribute to publications and presentations.

  • Development and administration of formative and summative assessments.

  • Contribute to the development, administration and grading of course evaluations.

  • Maintain appropriate office hours as required.

  • Coordinate all learning activities.

  • Proctoring exams and other responsibilities related to teaching and advising.

  • Serve on appointed committees, task forces and other teams.

    EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

    Candidates must have a Doctor of Chiropractic degree from a CCE accredited institution; a Bachelor's degree from an institution accredited by a nationally recognized agency, or its foreign equivalent; current licensure or potential in the state of Iowa and documented practice experience and/or teaching experience in an institution of higher education. Knowledge in Palmer Package technique is required. Computer literacy with email and Microsoft Office products is required.

    PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT

  • Performs sedentary to light work in a ventilated, lighted, and temperature-controlled office setting.

  • Frequent need to stand, stoop, walk, sit, lift light objects (up to 10 pounds) and perform other similar actions during the workday.
