Job Description

Your Responsibilities:
Lead and facilitate projects supporting the development and maintenance of quality, research and evidence-based instruction to improve student achievement in K-12 literacy.
Provide professional development for local school districts, external and internal coaches, and area education agency personnel.
Direct work in response to the needs of districts, schools, and outside partners.
Lead work groups and activities designed to determine the impact of efforts to accelerate student achievement in literacy.
Coordinate grants, agreements, and work with internal and external partners to support literacy learning and student achievement consistent with the science of reading.
Coordinate and provide leadership to the internal Department of Education literacy team, the statewide literacy team, area education agency personnel, and local school district personnel.
Lead Department of Education staff in projects related to curriculum, instruction, and assessment within the scope of the state standards for literacy.
Maintain professional competency through review of professional research, on-site visitation of programs and continuing education activities. This work includes on-site compliance visits. Participate in professional activities of Bureau, Division, Department, and national and state organizations.

Hours: 8:00 A.M. – 4:30 P.M., Monday – Friday; some nights and weekends, occasional in-state and out-of-state travel

Selectives
160 Teaching/Training:
6 months experience, 12 semester hours, or a combination of both in instructing students individually or in groups – this includes preparing materials, delivering material (i.e., lectures, presentations, demonstrations), keeping records of student progress and communicating progress to students.
OR
186 Education:
6 months experience, 12 semester hours, or a combination of both in education, instructional design, or a closely-related field.
OR
203 Instructional Design:
6 months experience, 12 semester hours, or a combination of both in all of the following:
Determining the current state and needs of the learner
Defining the end goal of instruction
Creating a plan to bridge the gap between the current state of the learner and the end goal of instruction
Evaluation of this training
Minimum Qualification Requirements
Applicants must meet at least one of the following minimum requirements to qualify for positions in this job classification:
1) Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university, and experience equal to five years of full-time, professional-level work in program administration, development, management, or operations.
2) A combination of a total of nine years of education and full-time experience (as described in number one), where thirty semester hours of accredited college or university course work may substitute for one year of full-time experience.
3) Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Master's degree in social work, law, education, engineering, or public or business administration, and experience equal to three years of full-time, professional-level work in program administration, development, management, or operations.
4) Current, continuous experience in the state executive branch that includes two years of full-time work as an Education Program Consultant.
