Principal Financial Group Assistant Director, Document Services in Des Moines, Iowa

What You'll Do

As Assistant Director – Document Services you will be responsible for the Enterprise Document Services - Vendor Management team while driving the Enterprise strategy of modernizing our incoming and outgoing customer communications capabilities! You will develop and coordinate internal and external business relationships. Drive out the vision for the distribution of communication of the future by demonstrating the expertise of 3rd party vendors to provide customer communication capabilities. Serve as the primary liaison between the business and outside vendors, speaking publicly with partners at all levels and ensuring the enterprise's needs are represented.

Here are a few examples of things you’ll do:

  • Develop and handle the departmental strategies, budgets, objectives, policies, service delivery, and quality control procedures ensuring alignment and effective support with internal clients. Efficiently link document services strategies to overall business strategy and objectives.

  • Understand the document solution needs of the organization and identify mature solutions in the market. Consult, communicate and build positive relationships with internal clients and external suppliers in a way that builds partnership and improves the efficiency and profitability of the company.

  • Harmonize with Sr. Management on the long term and short term planning for document solutions.

  • Accountable for the successful day to day customer communications flowing to 3rd parties

  • Lead and run issues that route to the Document Services help desk, balance and reconcile invoices and ensure financial targets are met.

Who You Are

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent, plus 8+ years of confirmed experience leading customer communications functions and vendor management

  • 2+ years formally leading/managing a team of direct reports required

  • Requires strong critical thinking and understanding of the organization strategy and objectives, leadership, communication, negotiation, problem solving, financial management and ability to influence for results

  • Ability to lead large-scale projects to improve processes and deliver initiatives within set timelines

Salary Range Information

Salary ranges below reflect targeted base salaries. Non-sales positions have the opportunity to participate in a bonus program. Sales positions are eligible for sales incentives, and in some instances a bonus plan, whereby total compensation may far exceed base salary depending on individual performance. Actual compensation for all roles will be based upon geographic location, work experience, education, licensure requirements and/or skill level and will be finalized at the time of offer.

Salary Range (Non-Exempt expressed as hourly; Exempt expressed as yearly)

$123000 - $167000 / year

Time Off Program

Flexible Time Off (FTO) is provided to salaried (exempt) employees and provides the opportunity to take time away from the office with pay for vacation, personal or short-term illness. Employees don’t accrue a bank of time off under FTO and there is no set number of days provided.

This role offers hybrid (blending at least three office days in a typical workweek) in our Des Moines, Iowa office.
