ASM Research, An Accenture Federal Services Company Document Writer in Des Moines, Iowa

Analyzes requirements, develops source material, and consults multiple departments in preparing technical documents such as manuals, procedures, and specifications. Responsible for planning and preparing the technical data for major publication projects. Provides guidance and direction in the areas of quality, graphics, coverage, format and style. Ensures adherence to specifications. Produces high-quality documentation that contributes to the overall success of the company. Ensures adherence to specifications such as DoDAF, IEEE and professional writing standards such as AMA, APA and CSE styles.

  • Provide product, program and/or technical development, and design documentation support related to deliverables generated by our operation teams.

  • Organizes and writes supporting documents for products.

  • Output includes written or visual product/process/technical documentation, online information, graphic design and strong verbal and non-verbal communication between different work streams.

  • Translates development requirements into required documentation changes. Adheres to CMMI Level 3/AIMM platform requirements.

  • Work with technical architects to understand the exact requirement related to documentation and deliver the same as per customer's timelines.

  • Conducts research and ensures the use of proper technical terminology.

  • Engages in formatting, editing, and quality assurance on own work and the work of others.

  • Demonstrates the ability to document business processes and write detailed functional requirements.

  • Ensures consistency, clarity, and quality in and across all types of documentation.

  • Autonomously review existing documentation and identify documents impacted by the updated processes and manage the update, business review, and approval of the documentation.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in English, Journalism or a related field or equivalent relevant experience.

  • ICAgile Certified Professional (ICP) preferred

  • 7+ years of experience working with technical documentation with experience in creating end-user documentation.

Other Job Specific Skills

  • Have experience writing technical policies and procedures.

  • Good verbal and written communication skills.

  • Experience in writing policies and procedures related to cloud technologies like Amazon Web Services, or security efforts.

  • Experience with process improvement and design.

  • Ability to quickly grasp complex technical concepts and make them easily understandable in text and pictures.

  • Ability to deliver high quality documentation, paying close attention to detail.

  • Demonstrates advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office Products (Word, Excel, Visio, PowerPoint) and Adobe Acrobat Professional.

  • Experience with desktop publication tools from Adobe and Microsoft.

  • Ability to understand and articulate technical requirements and translate these requirements into technical documentation.

  • Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment.

  • Advanced technical writing and presentation skills.

  • Ability to meet deadlines and communicate progress against schedule

  • Ability to peer review technical documents for grammar, content, and style of writing.

  • Capability to handle sensitive and complex issues with discretion and good judgment.

Compensation Ranges

Compensation ranges for ASM Research positions vary depending on multiple factors; including but not limited to, location, skill set, level of education, certifications, client requirements, contract-specific affordability, government clearance and investigation level, and years of experience. The compensation displayed for this role is a general guideline based on these factors and is unique to each role. Monetary compensation is one component of ASM's overall compensation and benefits package for employees.
