Elevator supervisor – F04 Des Moines, IA

This is an exempt level position.

Position Summary:

Must be able to work day shift operations including weekends, holidays, and overtime when required. The candidate for this position will primarily work on first shift Monday-Friday.

The primary responsibility of this Elevator Supervisor is to supervise the daily activities of hourly personnel, perform LOTO procedures on equipment as necessary, fill out and assign necessary permitting for workgroups in the AOR, manage oversite on inventory management and perform month end inventory duties, assist in new colleague training in AOR. Work with hourly colleagues, elevator superintendent, and other operations leadership to drive continuous improvement in areas of operations safety, quality, and efficiency. The Shift Supervisor must also be able to perform the tasks required to fill-in for operators as needed. This position will work in and oversee activities in the grain elevator, truck and rail inbound bean receiving, railyard activities, and truck and rail outbound finished goods and storage vessels. The skills necessary to be successful in this role include the ability to lead and manage plant priorities in the areas of plant and personnel safety, administration of corporate and plant policies, quality control, environmental compliance, production, cost management, and food safety.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Display a commitment to lead, participate and support ongoing safety including value-based safety efforts.

  • Assist in the daily plant operations, which include safety and environmental compliance, food safety, quality control, production, cost optimization and efficiencies.

  • Understanding of operations, rules, regulations, policies and possess the ability to communicate those requirements effectively to the workforce to aid in training and development of new employees.

  • Maintain good working relationships with all employees. Oversee completion of GMP Audit and Sanitation items throughout the facility.

  • Provide solutions and promote teamwork among various groups of employees in production, maintenance and lab.

Job Qualifications:

  • The candidate must be able to work on the in a variety of environmental conditions. Experience in an agricultural manufacturing environment with engines, performing hot work on industrial equipment is preferred.

  • Possession of a current, state issued Drivers License is required.

  • Ability to climb stairs, some lifting, sit and stand for long periods of time, work with heights, bending, kneeling and the use of a respirator required.

  • Excellent communication skills to provide guidance and feedback.

  • Results driven to provide support to achieve the goals established by management.

  • The ability to provide motivation to the direct reports and demonstrate leadership qualities to all plant personnel.

  • Problem solving skills and sound decision making are necessary to be successful.

  • High school diploma or equivalent
