Principal Financial Group Enterprise Architect, Business Architecture focus in Des Moines, Iowa

What You'll Do

As an Enterprise Architect focused on business architecture, you'll support other architects and contribute to the development of enterprise architecture within one or more business areas or enterprise architecture domains. You’ll do this by helping to simplify complex business problems and create a shared view of what we do and how we deliver value to our organization.

You’ll have the opportunity to:

  • Partner with primary business architect to contribute to development of business architecture for assigned areas of responsibility to achieve Principal’s business strategies and priorities.

  • Contribute to efforts to build business capability maps, conduct capability assessments, research technology and business trends and provide recommendations to drive business strategy.

  • Effectively communicate with stakeholders to influence on how to consume and apply the business architecture.

  • Monitor architecture decisions being made by enterprise architecture governance groups and understand implications of architecture governance decisions on assigned areas of responsibility.

  • Influence the development and utilization of business architecture in an Agile manner in alignment with our delivery practices for assigned business area or enterprise architecture domain.

  • Work through ambiguous situations with organizational navigation to deliver results.

  • Deliver business value by collaborating with and influencing internal partners at all levels including but not limited to business partners, agile teams, strategy team and technology partners

  • Educate others and apply business architecture framework to enterprise and corporate business unit efforts

Who You Are

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience

  • 3+ years of experience with a multi-business unit organization

  • Demonstrates base level business and professional breadth of knowledge and Business Architecture awareness

  • Creative capacity to craft, evolve and customize business architecture deliverables and to embrace and guide business and technology partners through change and complexity

  • Strong strategic thinking, analytical, problem-solving and big picture/conceptual skills

  • Strong communication, planning and decision-making skills with a quick learning style

Skills That Will Help You Stand Out

  • Capable to work with people at all levels and be able to influence others through informal leadership

  • Demonstrated commitment to continuous learning and growth within architecture field (i.e., training, or architectural certifications such Certified Business Architect)

  • Experience with strategy to execution value stream and applying business architecture across the value stream

  • Knowledge of financial and insurance industry

Salary Range Information

Salary ranges below reflect targeted base salaries. Non-sales positions have the opportunity to participate in a bonus program. Sales positions are eligible for sales incentives, and in some instances a bonus plan, whereby total compensation may far exceed base salary depending on individual performance. Actual compensation for all roles will be based upon geographic location, work experience, education, licensure requirements and/or skill level and will be finalized at the time of offer.

Salary Range (Non-Exempt expressed as hourly; Exempt expressed as yearly)

$86450 - $116850 / year

Time Off Program

Flexible Time Off (FTO) is provided to salaried (exempt) employees and provides the opportunity to take time away from the office with pay for vacation, personal or short-term illness. Employees don’t accrue a bank of time off under FTO and there is no set number of days provided.

We’ll consider talent at the next level (Sr Enterprise Architect) with the right experience and skills.

Work Environments

This role offers in-office, hybrid (blending at least three office days in a typical workweek), and remote work arrangements (only if residing more than 30 miles from Des Moines, IA, or Charlotte, NC). You’ll work with your leader to figure out which option may align best based on several factors.
