Chemours is seeking an Environmental Engineer with a focus in Air Quality to join our Environmental Center of Excellence as a subject matter expert. This position will report directly to the Director - Environment and Remediation . The position is located within the United States, preferably at or near Chemours headquarters in Wilmington, DE or manufacturing locations (e.g. mid-Ohio Valley, Tennessee Valley, Gulf Coast regions). Remote job location may be considered.

As the air quality subject matter expert for Chemours, the Environmental Engineer will provide regulatory and compliance support to Chemours global chemical businesses in environmental engineering and related technologies, including technical support to plant operations and new capital projects.

The responsibilities of the position include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Provide support to manufacturing sites including guidance on achieving regulatory compliance, interpretation of air regulations, the selection and oversight of outside contractors for work including LDAR monitoring, stack testing, air dispersion modeling, and air permitting

  • Provide support of capital projects including air permitting assistance, determining regulatory applicability, guidance on the selection of air pollution control technology, estimating air emissions

  • Perform site 2nd party environmental audits at plant sites

  • Support advocacy efforts including representing Chemours on American Chemistry Council (ACC) Committees and reviewing and prepare comments to agencies on proposed regulations

  • Provide expertise and support of Chemours sustainability initiatives working closely with sustainability leadership and practice leaders

  • Provide leadership with respect to anticipating future regulatory trends and tracking and communicating regulatory changes, including tracking changes in air quality regulations and sending regulatory change communications to the company network, and proactively work with plants to make sure adequate preparations are made to comply with new regulations including training

  • Support enterprise environmental monitoring and improvement initiatives including analysis of leading and lagging indicators of environmental performance (deviations, audit performance and others) – sharing trends and driving continuous improvement and prevention

  • Own the applicable Chemours environmental standards – periodically reviewing and proposing revisions as appropriate to reach top quartile performance

  • Ensure sharing of learnings across the enterprise in the spirit of continuous improvement and prevention, including the organization and presentation of internal training webinars and courses.

  • Participate in Monthly EHS Business/Region/Competency meetings

  • Required travel: Approx. 25 - 40%

The following is required for this role:

  • Bachelor's degree in Chemical, Mechanical, or Environmental Engineering

  • 10 -15 years relevant work experience with 10+ years of an air focus

  • Expertise with US air quality regulations

  • Knowledge of and experience with international air quality regulations

  • Good interpersonal and communication skills, and ability to work well with all levels in the organization

  • Self-motivated and ability to independently achieve results.

  • Ability to work in teams and work in a collaborative environment

  • Good technical writing skills and good verbal communications skills

  • Good problem-solving skills and trouble-shooting skills, leveraging technical background

  • Must have a valid passport

The following is preferred for this role:

  • Master's degree in Chemical, Mechanical, or Environmental Engineering

  • Professional Engineer (PE) certification

  • Experience with other US regulatory programs including water and waste

$120,064.00 - $187,600.00
