Cassia Health Unit Coordinator (HUC) in Des Moines, Iowa
Valley View Village is hiring an organized, detail-oriented Full-Time Health Unit Coordinator (HUC) to join our team. In this role, you will coordinate information and provide administrative support to our team to ensure our residents and visitors have the best possible experience. Our ideal candidate has a knowledge of medical terminology and prior experience as a Health Unit Coordinator. This position does require that candidate be a Certified Med Aide (CMA).
Our meticulously clean building is conveniently located in a park-like setting on Des Moines’ East side, near shopping centers, hospitals, medical providers and I-235. We are proud of our staff to resident ratio that allows us to provide quality care to our residents. As a continuum of care campus, we offer independent living, assisted living, long term care, and skilled nursing care including speech, physical and occupational therapies. This is a Full-Time, benefit eligible position working a varied schedule including every other weekend.
Health Unit Coordinator (HUC) responsibilities:
Enter physician’s orders with high degree of accuracy.
Schedule medical appointments and transportation.
Maintain electronic medical records for accurate census data.
Provide ongoing customer service to residents, family members and facility visitors.
Assist with inventory and delivery of nursing supplies.
Complete other tasks as requested.
Health Unit Coordinator (HUC) skills and requirements:
Experience as a health unit coordinator, or health information certification required.
Certified Med Aide (CMA)/Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) required.
2+ years’ experience in LTC or Medical records preferred.
Knowledge of medical terminology required.
Must possess excellent customer service and communication skills.
Accurate and proficient computer skills including Windows based applications.
Time management skills for working in a fast-paced, multi-task environment.
