Principal Financial Group HR Shared Services Rep - Talent Acquisition in Des Moines, Iowa

What You'll Do

Are you ready to make a significant impact on the employee experience at Principal? We're seeking a motivated individual to join our dynamic HR Service Center team. As an HR Shared Services Rep, you'll be at the forefront of our Talent Acquisition operations, facilitating seamless onboarding, providing essential administrative support, and ensuring operational excellence throughout the employee life cycle. You'll directly influence the satisfaction and success of both our candidates and employees!

You'll have the opportunity to:

  • Lead the administration of new employee onboarding procedures, ensuring compliance with State and Federal regulations and delivering a top-notch onboarding experience.

  • Coordinate weekly New Employee Corporate Orientation sessions, including report generation and distribution, adhering to specified guidelines.

  • Manage annual background check processes and audits, interpreting results in alignment with company policies.

  • Facilitate job posting on career pages to attract top talent.

  • Collaborate closely within a team environment, encouraging idea-sharing, ownership, and accountability to drive continuous improvement in HR processes.

  • Cross-train on various HR processes and offer backup support as needed.

Who You Are

  • Associates Degree plus 4+ years of experience or Bachelors degree or equivalent experience required.

  • Experience in HR or working in an operational/contact center environment.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication with the ability to quickly and efficiently diagnose customer needs vs. wants based on contact topic.

  • Detail oriented with the ability to balance competing priorities and bring to resolution.

  • Confidence to work through and consult on ambiguous situations and identify when further review is needed.

  • Forward thinking with the ability to problem solve and think critically with minimal direction.

  • Ability to understand and apply established procedures and processes.

  • Ability to efficiently navigate and use multiple technology solutions, such as intranet, knowledgebase, contact documentation software, with technical proficiency to troubleshoot HR system issues with customers.

  • Maintain confidentiality.

Skills That Will Help You Stand Out

  • Experience working with HR systems and case management tools: Oracle HCM, Adobe Sign, and/or ServiceNow.

Salary Range Information

Salary ranges below reflect targeted base salaries. Non-sales positions have the opportunity to participate in a bonus program. Sales positions are eligible for sales incentives, and in some instances a bonus plan, whereby total compensation may far exceed base salary depending on individual performance. Actual compensation for all roles will be based upon geographic location, work experience, education, licensure requirements and/or skill level and will be finalized at the time of offer.

Salary Range (Non-Exempt expressed as hourly; Exempt expressed as yearly)

$20.55 - $27.86 / hour

Time Off Program

Personal Time Off (PTO) is provided to hourly (non-exempt) employees and provides a set amount of accrued time earned each pay period. Employees can use their PTO for vacation, personal or short-term illness.

Additional Information


This role will be based out of our Des Moines, IA office location as it supports Talent Acquisition work and processes and potential need for on-site work. You'll have the ability for in-office, hybrid (blending both office and remote work in a typical work week).
