Job Description

Are you ready to contribute to a team making a meaningful impact on public service? The Iowa Department of Administrative Services Human Resources Enterprise (DAS-HRE) is seeking a detail-oriented and customer-focusedHuman Resources Technical Specialist (HRTS)to join our Benefits Bureau. In this role, you will support the administration of critical benefits programs, including the Retirement Investors Club (RIC) 457/401a plans and Group Insurance, while ensuring smooth and accurate operations.

Location and Hours:

This is a hybrid position based in downtown Des Moines, IA, offering a blend of in-office and remote work flexibility. You will work Monday - Friday, 40 hours per week.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Process transactions and conduct audits within the Workday Human Resources Information System (HRIS), particularly in medical and dental benefits.

  • Manage distribution lists, approve distributions, and gather data for the annual review of deferred compensation programs.

  • Assist in coordinating Service Award Certificates and the One-Gift donation campaign.

  • Provide day-to-day support to the Benefits team to ensure timely and accurate administration of employee benefits.

Minimum Qualification Requirements

Applicants must meet at least one of the following minimum requirements to qualify for positions in this job classification:

1) Three years of full-time work experience in performing administrative support including one year in a human-resources-related program area.

2) Three years of education where thirty semester hours of accredited college or university course work in any field equals one year.

3) All of the following (a and b):

a. A total of two years of education and/or full-time experience where thirty semester hours of accredited college or university course work in any field equals one year of full-time experience in administrative support work; and

b. A total of one year of education (as described in part a) and/or full-time experience in administrative support work in a human-resources-related program area.

4) Current, continuous experience in the state executive branch that includes twelve months of full-time administrative support work in a human-resources-related program area.
