Principal Financial Group Info Security Engineer III in Des Moines, Iowa

What You'll Do

We’re looking for an Information Security Engineer III to join our Data Security Program. In this role, you’ll independently leverage data to define, measure, and build actionable intelligence around our data protection controls. This role is critical in safeguard customer data as we assist them in achieving their financial goals.

  • Display proficiency in security requirements and effectively convey technical concepts to customers and partners from non-technical backgrounds. Moreover, effectively communicate business objectives to the technical team and gain their agreement and cooperation.

  • Lead the team in proactively establishing controls and ensuring systems are secure and meet policy and regulatory requirements during development. Includes leading risk remediation as a result of risk assessments. Develop expertise of security controls in one or more security functions and assess, recommend, and implement improvements

  • Collaborate with domestic and international business partners to understand how data is used and what protections are needed.

  • Investigate and resolve suspected data loss events in collaboration with business teams, advancing them to the Security Operations Center when necessary.

  • Collect and analyze Data Loss Prevention event metrics to identify trends and produce metric reporting.

  • Analyze to help determine data loss control efficiency and recommend solutions to improve data security.

  • Communicate metrics and related information to a variety of internal audiences to advise where corrective action is needed to address gaps or areas of risk to meet business needs.

  • Partner with engineering teams to define, build, and deliver solutions.

  • Respond to business inquiries related to data loss controls

  • Pursue opportunities to automate or enrich investigation and response processes.

Who You Are

  • Associate's or bachelor's degree (preference in a computer science, technology, engineering or math-related field) or equivalent and 3+ years work experience

  • Ability to design and automate your work and drive efficiency

  • Attitude, Aptitude, and Initiative in all you do

  • Experience as an IT professional

  • Basic knowledge of insurance and financial services products preferred

  • Excellent planning, organizational, problem-solving, analytical, decision-making and interpersonal skills required

  • Basic leadership and presentation skills required

  • Ability to maintain a high degree of accuracy and confidentiality

  • Must have the desire and ability to learn new technology and continuously grow

  • Skilled at working on teams with diverse functions and collaborating effectively with both IT and non-IT partners.

  • May be required to provide on-call support

Skills That Will Help You Stand Out

  • Experience in information security, data security and privacy, anomaly detection or fraud investigations

  • Experience with data protection technologies spanning (Network, storage, endpoint, and CASB) i.e. Proofpoint, Zscaler, ServiceNow, MS Purview.

  • Proficiency with analytical and data tools (PowerBI, Splunk, ELK, etc.)

  • Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP)

  • Professional Certifications

Salary Range Information

Salary ranges below reflect targeted base salaries. Non-sales positions have the opportunity to participate in a bonus program. Sales positions are eligible for sales incentives, and in some instances a bonus plan, whereby total compensation may far exceed base salary depending on individual performance. Actual compensation for all roles will be based upon geographic location, work experience, education, licensure requirements and/or skill level and will be finalized at the time of offer.

Salary Range (Non-Exempt expressed as hourly; Exempt expressed as yearly)

$112000 - $152000 / year

Time Off Program

Flexible Time Off (FTO) is provided to salaried (exempt) employees and provides the opportunity to take time away from the office with pay for vacation, personal or short-term illness. Employees don’t accrue a bank of time off under FTO and there is no set number of days provided.
