Job Description

The Department of Management (DOM), Division of Information Technology (DoIT) is seeking anInformation Technology Specialist 4 - Help Desk Specialistto join our team!

This key role will focus on device deployments, technical support, and team leadership within our IT Help Desk team.

Key Responsibilities:

  • End-User Device Deployment

  • Collaborate with technical staff to plan and execute end-user device deployments.

  • Ensure timely delivery, setup, and configuration of end-user devices, meeting performance and cybersecurity standards.

  • Install and configure hardware components, software applications, and updates.

  • Conduct training sessions for new and existing employees on device usage and best practices.

  • Monitor device performance, proactively addressing any issues or system concerns.

  • Develop self-help documentation to aid in providing first-level support.

  • Operate a state vehicle as part of device deployment duties, as required by agency guidelines.

  • Help Desk Support

  • Act as a team lead, guiding and prioritizing Help Desk tasks based on daily needs and incoming requests.

  • Provide high-quality, customer-focused technical support through multiple communication channels.

  • Troubleshoot technical issues promptly and accurately, guiding end-users toward effective solutions.

  • Maintain clear and concise documentation to improve the speed and accuracy of issue resolution.

  • Identify system performance issues and proactively suggest improvements to enhance support efficiency.

  • Answer after-hours Help Desk calls to provide support when needed.

  • Inventory Management

  • Maintain an inventory of all end-user devices (desktop, laptop, tablets) and associated hardware/software licenses.

Minimum Qualification Requirements

Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university and experience equal to two years of full-time work: operating a multi-job computer; installing, operating and coordinating computer based networks; installing/maintaining database management systems; developing business application processes; developing/operating system programs; installing/maintaining personal computers, Local Area Networks and/or servers; managing operating systems; developing/ delivering information management training; providing Information Technology (IT) customer service; or designing/administering Internet sites;

OR

an equivalent combination of education and experience substituting the completion of an approved curriculum/specialized training program developed and implemented by or in cooperation with state government; or eighteen semester hours of accredited post high school course work in one of the specialty areas listed above; or certification by an authorized educational institution/major computer or software producer in an area directly related to one of the specialty areas listed above, for the required education;

OR

an equivalent combination of education and experience substituting one year of the required experience for thirty semester hours of the required education;

OR

employees with current continuous experience in the state executive branch that includes experience equal to six months of full-time work as an Information Technology Specialist 3.
