In the research and development teams of our clients, our Strategy Life Sciences practice helps clients to transform their organizations to optimize pipelines and accelerate speed to approvals, capture new sources of value, and adapt to an evolving regulatory and health authority landscape.  

The Work:

As part of the Strategy Life Sciences team, you will be a heavily client facing thought leader in the space of R&D. You will help shape and deliver cutting edge thinking and C Suite relevant R&D perspectives to senior executives in the industry and originate opportunities to partner with them to deliver transformational outcomes. To deliver on this, you will collaborate with clients to deliver strategic insights, technical expertise, and actionable recommendations across all domains of the research and development function. Drawing upon your deep understanding of scientific principles and industry trends, you will play a key role in both shaping and delivering programs that will accelerate innovation. In this role, you will work collaboratively with internal and external project team members and build new and long-term relationships with clients to help sustain Accenture's profile as a long-term trusted advisor and partner. Mentorship will include junior members of the practice and will require development of this talent to become future R&D Strategy practitioners and leaders. At a Principal Director level work would be focused on growing client relationships and expanding origination efforts to help solve our clients’ most pressing challenges. This could be:

  • Partnering with clients to understand their R&D objectives, challenges, and opportunities for growth

  • Leading teams to conduct in-depth analyses of scientific literature, market trends, and competitive landscapes to inform strategic recommendations

  • Providing functional expertise and guidance on experimental design, data interpretation, and optimization of R&D processes

  • Using you network and client experiences to contribute to origination and develop new opportunities across research and development clients

  • Incorporating foundational understanding of latest therapeutic area, modality, and new science trends to more effectively solve client’s problems and achieve business outcomes

In this role you will be expected to:

  • Develop and present comprehensive proposals, project plans, and deliverables tailored to each client's unique needs and objectives

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to execute client projects, ensuring timely delivery and high-quality outcomes

  • Embed with client account teams to learn their business and their most pressing challenges, and effectively gather the right Accenture team to help them to resolve

  • Build strong relationships with clients, serving as a trusted advisor and thought leader

  • Lead global teams of 2-30+ to deliver against client priorities and to solve a specific problem(s)

  • Function as a strategic advisor to clients on end-to-end R&D transformations addressing key business challenges such as accelerating the development cycle, new technology advancements across R&D, new science

  • Collaborate effectively with other Accenture teams in Strategy, Consulting, Technology and Operations to bring the best of Accenture to clients

  • Develop meaningful partnerships with Life Sciences clients through utilizing interpersonal skills, effective communication, and relationship building

  • Contribute to the development of thought leadership content, and best practices within the organization for Research and Development

  • Support the growth and operations of the Life Sciences Research and Development practice at Accenture through active involvement and leadership

Basic Qualifications - Here's what you need:

  • Minimum 10 years of Life Sciences industry experience at a business consulting firm or equivalent internal consulting experience focused in one or more of the following areas: Internal strategy development, transformation design and execution, or business case development.

  • Bachelor's degree

Preferred qualifications:

  • MBA or an advanced degree in R&D relevant fields

Professional skills requirements:

  • Experience with client origination and new business development processes

  • Experience leading successful teams and autonomously “running a business”

  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to distill complex scientific or operational concepts into clear and compelling insights for diverse stakeholders.

  • Proven track record of delivering strategic recommendations, driving project execution, and achieving measurable business outcomes.

  • Preference for deep expertise in clinical development (clinical operations, clinical sciences) including regulatory requirements, industry standards, and best practices governing the development of life science products.

  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment, managing multiple projects simultaneously and adapting to evolving client needs.

  • Collaborative mindset with a strong sense of integrity, professionalism, and commitment to client satisfaction.

Compensation at Accenture varies depending on a wide array of factors, which may include but are not limited to the specific office location, role, skill set, and level of experience.
